Look at your pic, it says right there that it is grimdark. Maybe it doesn't affect me as much because I'm from /tg/, but every fandom has its bits of the dark side. At least by letting people know severing exists, you can cut down on the "and then they all killed each other" stories. You can add "Cupcakes" to the grim dark stories too. I've been told it isn't very good by grim dark fic standards, but since MLP seems to be a lot of people first fandom that gets them to read fics, it's where you can start.

Personally, I prefer to spin around things. Like Pinkie Pie is an Eldritch abomination that can bend reality to its whim, but she actually likes the ponies and tries to keep them happy. One of th eponies finds out, but despite all their hesitation and fear, and Pinkie's own desire to keep them safe, they continue to be friends.

I'm pretty amused Twilight's number during the Fall Weather Friends race was 42. It's a reference real but small enough to make me smile, just the right speed for this show.

To give the poster credit, it does cut down on the number of grimdark fics that people make or suggest, since it covers most things. It was labeled when it went on Equestria Daily (at least, I seem to remember it was). It had been floating around before then, and I think a lot of people read it without realizing what it was.

Though again, that's not a criticism of the story, that's just people complaining because they thought having a grimdark MLP story was inherently bad.

I have a serious problem with MLP lately. I can see several paths this show can take that will not be good. Lets start with my favorite pony, Fluttershy, We already have dragonshy and stare master even some minor other episodes where she gained character development. Now I like character development, but the problem is that writers always treat being shy as a character flaw that has to be written out. It's in her name, It's one of the reasons we love her, sure i wanna hear her talk but seriously slow down on the character development; that being said certain characters are being neglected in that area, Rarity and rainbow imo haven't gotten the spotlight enough, I'd like to see rainbow become nicer maybe learn something in the end. Also I feel pinkie pie is gonna be seriously flanderised, she's funny as hell and can break the fourth wall, but she has more of a personality than that. She's a main character not a cheap joke to throw in.

That being said I love the show, I really do but I can see so many ways my favorite TV show could be spoiled. Hopefully their writers can avoid these paths.
