Twilight: Replaced with Lyra
They were both students in Canterlot, judging from Lyra's appearance in the pilot. She's a unicorn with a talent (judging from her cutie mark) for music; magic and music are closely intertwined in many folklore traditions, making it easy to match her with Twilight's magical talents.
Rarity: Replaced with Seafoam
Rarity is clearly the 'girly one' of the current group, so replacing her with a pony who's cutie mark is a couple of dolphins is a no-brainer.
Rainbow Dash: Replaced with Dr Whooves (Pegasus regeneration)
Pegasus Dr. Whooves did a bajillion barrel rolls in Sonic Rainboom, which sounds like it would mesh nicely with Dash's need for aerial excellence. Also, I like the idea of having at least one male cast member (yes, I know the show's for little girls, but that doesn't mean we can't have ONE male pony in the mane cast, right?)
Fluttershy: Replaced with Derpy
Wall-eyed and ditzy, but not actually retarded Derpy, to be specific.
Pinkie Pie: Replaced with OPPP
When she's sober, OPPP is a nagging worrywart. When she's blitzed (which is most of the time), she becomes hyper-friendly and prone to drunken singing. As long as we keep a punch bowl handy, she's the perfect replacement!
Applejack: Replaced with Caramel (female version)
Because feminized Caramel is unaccountably awesome. |
