Twilight Sparkle is not Celestia's only student and her adventures are not unique to her. Nonexistant; Celestia was in on it the whole time. That's why there is six elements of harmony; she set it up that way so her students could gain 6 bffs.

Celestia keeps the students themselves separated in different cities so they don't catch on. I mean, things have to function the same no matter where you are in Equestria, right? The Winter Wrap-Up happens at the same time, and that race that clears the forest of leaves or whatever. All happening at the same time in different cities. Now, since some lessons that are essential to friendship come from hardship, Celestia has to push things in that direction, i.e. plague of parasprites. She even says that the same thing was happening in Fillydelphia at the time, right?

Also, in all of the groups of friends that Celestia has her students make, there's always one from the Apple family. The Apple clan is located all over Equestria, so it doesn't seem too unreasonable for that to be true, too.

Your mileage may vary when it comes to sad or even grimdark stories. The problem with fanfics in general is that they're usually set on getting a rise out of the reader, particularly since one can make a number of assumptions about the reader in regards to their knowledge and interpretation of the original series. It's easy to fall into gimmicky pitfalls.

Call me jaded but I certainly don't feel much of a twinge reading all these emotionally-driven stories, or even the gore stories. Each one is over the top in its own way, and I try to enjoy the writing itself—a rarer accomplishment than I would hope.

Basically, sadfics and gorefics are just that: defined by their gimmick. They're often not proper stories and lack substantial character arcs or development; they just get straight to throwing punches at the reader's emotional triggers. It's such a hamfisted method that I've personally grown a very thick skin to it.

There are certainly some earnest attempts at writing more developed stories, such as Bittersweet and its evolution into an adventure story.

Hey there /co/ Bronies, Got a dilemma that perhaps I can get some insight on here.

I'm gearing up to go to Otakon this year and was thinking about making a Big Macintosh cosplay costume based loosely around the template of that person at Emerald Con who made Derpy (Obviously minus the Skirt and Dressy-parts). Ponychan is planning a big Brony-meetup event there as well which would give me all the more reason to make a costume.

On one hand, I think i can make the Costume look pretty good, on the other though, I'm afraid I might creep people out. (I'm not a girl, 24 yr old Guy here)
