Welsh whisky isn't that odd. They used to produce a lot of it back in the 17 and 1800s, but the stills were closed by the end and it died out. Penderyn is just a revival.
Welsh whisky is interesting because it was largely based on a mixture of southwestern Irish methods (Cork tradition, think Midleton, if you've ever sold your first born to get a bottle) and various lowland Scotch methods.
Makes it pretty unique.

Funny thing I learned visiting friends in America. Do you know state legal drinking age is actually different than federal age to purchase? In every state you need to be 21, or accompanied by a guardian in some, to purchase, but in some states, I think the lowest legal age to drink is 15, so long as it's provided by a parent or guardian and you're not left alone. If they're not legally your guardian though it's considered corruption of a minor. Though it varies by state.

Trixie would be ideal as she isn't a bad pony, but her arrogant demeanor gives the mane cast a headache. I wouldn't want to see a really evil character on par with say, Cobra Commander, or Skeletor in the show at any point.
