It's best to get used to it in these threads. It varies depending on time of day, but in general, this fandom is easily trolled, and feels too strongly about controversial issues (porn, shipping, waifus) to have civilized discussion.

I usually think through /tg/ lenses, so I apologize. However, I stand behind my comment that she did need the nerf.

Think of the main cast as people turning in character sheets.You have the following:
An apprentice baker,
A farmer,
A tailor,
A rancher/veterinarian,
a civil servant,
and a character whose gift is magic under the tutelage of the God Princess.

Perhaps Mary Sue was too strong, but over-powered is definitely a strong descriptor. Docking her charisma seems like a piddly thing. And the lengths the writers have gone to contain her can be compared to a DM throwing overpowered monsters to challenge just one party member.

I think if you were to do a MLP roleplaying game, you'd use kind of a White Wolf system, wherein the rules and dice rolls are trivial compared to the interactions between characters. Something like, Pony: the Reckoning, or Pony: the Masquerade.

Personally I found episode 1 and 2 to be some of the weaker episodes, not to mention incogruous with the rest of the episodes. I started with Dragonshy, which I think is episode 9. It's pretty funny. I like White Wolf's system because you give the ponies a vice and a virtue. It struck me as a simple way to add some variety to a character. I haven't tried Iron/Jade Claw, but even /tg/ likes the system, and those threads are rarely derailed. But I would probably just have Celestia as figurehead priestess.

As for FiM, I wouldn't mind a more adventure oriented spinoff. Just imagine getting Griffon plushies or armor for the rest of the pony toys.

/tg/ is basically over 4 ed at the moment, or at least doesn't respond to it anymore. Right now we're raging about Matt Ward and the Grey Knights, and I think that's the only big thing at the moment. Speaking of overanalyzing stuff, it's actually been why I like the show's fanbase. The show is not bad by itself, but when you start reading derpy comics, get into to the fanon, and read between the lines until you've got kind of a cruel, derranged little pony world, then suddenly you've got something pretty awesome, I think.

I never would have noticed derpy on my own, and it would have taken me a while to make the connection between Celestia and the ruthless gods of old. I mean, they do sort of gloss over the fact that Luna was imprisoned for a thousand years for petty jealousy.

I've had a few drinks so bare with me.
Fluttershy is chilling with her squirrel pals when baby one runs off into the apple family farm. She follows to bring it back. She runs into big Macintosh and he offers to help. They find the critter and she starts crushing on him.

The other main ponies are preparing for yet another ball and talking about how Randompony is going with other Randompony. Spike gets it in his head to ask Rarity and begs Twilight to help.

Pinky overhears Applejack and Dash talking about a sleepover and they all get screen time talking about who they should bring to the ball. They then run into Big Mac and Fluttershy hanging out together and start to tease her about liking Mac.

Fluttershy gets embarrassed and flustered like always And Mac flat out says he likes her. Fluttershy confidence boost is engaged and she admits she like him too. Applejack makes a coment about Mac falling for a pegasus and he retorts that she's one to talk. She walks away saying she doesn't know what he's talking about.

Twilight and Spike in library and Spike is brainstorming ideas of how to ask Rarity out. Twilight finally says that it would never work because he's not a pony. Spell to turn Spike into a pony is found.

Applejack and Dash are having another "slumberparty" and talking about who they should take to the ball. Blah blah blah...I want to take you to the ball, touch foreheads/mussels (as far as we should go. Internet already has pony porn let's keep it pg-13)

At the ball they all get ready and head out walking through the library and sight seeing where Twilight use to live. Twilight and Spike prepare. Flash of magic light and cut to ball. Rarity is trying to look her best for the prince and there is dancing and such. Purple gentlecolt with green hair and a dragon cutesty mark enters and asks Rarity to dance. Slow dance to upbeat music number.

Applejack and Dash talking about how lame dancing is when wanting to when Dash asks AJ to dance. AJ still not comfortable with the relationship declines and they argue. AJ runs out and one of the Wonderbolts asks Dash to dance.

Spike turns back into a dragon do to some catch in the spell stopping the ball because of the magic commotion and Rarity runs off horrified. Twilight follows and explains things to her and then talks to spike and they go back in. AJ overhearing the heartfelt conversations on unconventional love goes back too and she dances with Dash.

I'd also like to add a crazy rant about time travel from Pinky Pie because she went to the ball withe the Timer Pony who people reference and some Derpy shorts throughout with Derpy interacting with secondary characters.

This is exactly why I thought the d20 based on that first came up was such a bad idea. It was basically just trying to put a coat of pony colored paint on D&D.

After that I tried to make something that mechanically made violence an unattractive way to solve problems, but it was a lot more difficult that I expected. So was making 'friendship' a central mechanic of the game, especially since I couldn't figure out just what I wanted it to do that might be useful or interesting.

Sometimes I think too many months on /tg/ killed off some important part of my brain.
