The buffalo chief tasting the pie instantly made me think of this.

I liked how this episode didn't particularly focus on one pony, but spread the time between the main one's pretty well. Though it did feel a bit rushed towards the end, I feel it evens out with the sheer amount of awesome we got. Pinkie in old west saloon girl outfit, Train battles, Pie fights, Buffalo Indians, it was all a pretty fun ride. After the CMC streak, we've gotten a pretty good run of episodes. I wasn't disappointed this week.

Loved this episode. It was basically RDR, except the buffalo got to live. I was pretty turned off ponies the last month or so, first with the CMC episodes, then the girly stuff with Rarity and FS episodes, but this one got me back into it. Glad to see more adventure episodes where the cast is away from Ponyville. Really opens up the options a lot more IMO. Anyway, my new favorite. Hope to see more as good as this.

Pinkie is a ditz character, so you'd expect her to be dumb and wrong about a lot of things. Having a ditz be secretly smart is a subversion of expectations, and an obvious source of humor to anyone who sees the show. If she's just wrong, then it seems uninteresting. You can't really have her be wrong until the show's gone on for a while, the characters are established, and people look at Pinkie and see someone who knows what's going on, not just a ditz. It's THEN that making her wrong is a subversion of expectations, and therefore funny.

LBYS was an awesome episode. It introduced Rarity's OCD which by seems to be largely be forgotten, but it was a big thing for a while there. Her and AJ are the most opposite so it only makes sense to pair them up to have a conflict episode.
