Why are there door knobs in this universe? This is the only logical flaw I can think of in a show about talking magical ponies.

I liked the first two episodes.

It showed that there was some actual world-building and well-thought out plotting going on, and that it was more than just cute ponies being cute.

About every other episode is an adventure ep so I think they've done a good job of keeping that consistent. I'm not sure why people dislike the pilot either.

My favorite episode is feeling pinkie keen. Sometimes you just have to trust your friends without knowing why. Putting the MAGIC in FRIENDSHIP!

Well you just meet the characters but with their brief screentime you don't get the interactions they have with each other that make them so endearing, instead only getting a snapshot which makes you think that all they are is the archetype they seem to be based off of. Not nearly as funny as later episodes.

Another problem I feel is that the showdown with NMM seems like something you'd END a season with, rather than start with, so you get the feeling that most of the potential drama is wasted.

Call me slow, but I just noticed that an engagement ring like that makes no sense for ponies. Ponies don't have any fingers, and that ring's band is much too small to be worn like a bracelet. Wearing it on their horns would be fine...except that we've never seen a pony wear one like that, and since earth ponies and pegasus ponies don't have horns they'd be totally left out.

I think they're two of the best episodes in the series. You can tell they were crafted with a lot of love.

People don't like them because they are not comedy like the rest of the show, and because episode 2 rotates the spotlight over each character in turn, in a manner which some find too cheesy or stereotypical. I guess.

I'll try another episode on the weekend, although I think it won't help much. It's not that I dislike cartoons (I recently watched and enjoyed Avatar), it's just that a show about magical ponies doesn't seem interesting to me. I'm way above the age of the intended audience and I don't think the show will make me want to watch more.
