before I go to bed, I have a theory about that bird episode. It's Luna's pet phoenix from 1000 years ago and Celestia kept it alive and well, but fluttershy doesn't know what a phoenix is. This causes a problem because the phoenix looks sickly, almost terminal because it's getting ready to rebirth, and she doesn't understand and tries to help it get better (some how endangering it's rebirth cycle). Not that farfetched is it?

The synopsis said that she takes the bird without the princess's permission. My guess, it's a phoenix and dies in Fluttershy's care, only for the ponies to go through a ton of shenanigans trying to cover it up not knowing what kind of bird it is. Eventually the princesses find out and the phoenix is reborn, Fluttershy is forgiven and we all learn a lesson about good intentions and bad decisions etc etc.

In the last thread someone described Luna as grimdark, and I want to say I don't agree with that appraisal at all and I don't like her for being grimdark. I like her for being literally associated with darkness in an entirely value neutral sort of way. It has nothing to do with light = good and dark = bad, I don't see her as grim at all. I just like the darkness theme, and not in a gloomy or gothy or grim way. So as the darkness pony in the light/dark dichotomy, she's more my style.

Plus, I dunno, something about Celestia just seems off to me.

In the original write, Scoot knew nothing. I changed this because it started to drag on. Similes and metaphors were definitely something I thought of, but in the last general I said that I felt that while Dash would fuck up and make mistakes, she always seemed to rise to the occasion. She started off rocky, but got confident and started to explain shit like a boss. I'm glad that people are generally liking it, especially seeing as I wrote almost all of it with no sleep and I haven't written fiction in a long, long time.

Also, the straw intro and Rainbow Dash trying to figure out what to do when a child has an injury are my favorite parts.
