Interested in a general opinion, here. I've been thinking about Derpy, who has so far been something of an Easter Egg character in the series, and wondering how she would function if her role were bumped up all of the sudden to a secondary character, the way Apple Bloom sorta was. Would this be better for her, as a character? Right now her personality is speculative; people make of her what they want, with some main concepts agreed upon such as her affinity for muffins and delivering things. But if she were to become suddenly more detailed, with an entire episode(s) dedicated to her, would she tumble from her current stature in the community or would she gain even more notoriety?

It's honestly VERY hard to say. I myself have been pondering this for a bit, and it's hard to come to any solid conclusions. She's so much fun and enjoyable because essentially the fans have made her entire character out of nothing, only small references and fanfics that have gained massive popularity. So making her an ACTUAL character with backstory, personality, and a voice could prove either successful, or disastrous.

Now, myself, I would kill for a sort of "22 Short Stories About Springfield" type episode, where it'd be a bunch of little mini-episodes centering around different background ponies. Not sure HOW they could do that, but it'd be fucking awesome. Derpy, of course, would be in all of them, whether by background Easter egg, or just doing her mail job. Of course, that's assuming she WILL do that if given a canon name.
