I've been wondering for awhile, just why the heck is she in the Everfree forest anyway? I mean what reason does she have to be there? We can assume she doesn't live in Ponyville 'cause it's racist as fuck there, but why not live on the outskirts like Fluttershy does? Do you suppose she's studying something there?

Also, and this might just be me here, but do you ever get the feeling that Zecora is displaced? I mean, we get that she's from a "faraway land" that's heavily implied to be some facsimile of Africa, and we also know many African countries are notorious for being hotbeds of unrest, corruption, and wanton violence. Maybe, then, she left not of her own accord but for her safety? And also, English (or whatever the fuck the ponies are speaking) doesn't seem to be her first language, but she can rhyme on a dime. Seems pretty odd that she'd speak in such a sing-song way in something that's not her first language, when even native English speakers would be hard-pressed to do something like that.

A lot of dragons in RPG books abandon their young while they are still in the eggs. Spike may have been one of those. I'd say they are keeping him as the nice thing to do, and because if he grows up to be a big dragon, he can have Equestria claimed as his land, and hopefully keep out other, meaner, dragons and monsters.

They probably are not that rare within the actual universe. They at least understand dragons to the point where Celestia knew from the get go that they could be reasoned with peacefully, as she was confident enough to send Twilight Sparkle there instead of going herself.

My real question about Spike, if anything, is why he's so freaking small. Even as a "baby" dragon he's still much too small in comparison to the other dragon on the show. That thing would likely lay an egg twice the size of Spike.

Clearly he was transformed by Celestia to be a personal servant to Twilight.
