The conversation kept playing over and over in Rainbow Dash's mind as she regained consciousness. It had been going so well at first, her hooves looped under Applejack's front legs as she carried her higher and higher into the clouds. The earth pony had even managed to enjoy herself as her pegasus friend had shown her what it was like to live up in the air.

But then...

Dash had gotten overconfident. She had taken a daring dive toward the trees, eager to show Applejack just how exciting a sky-ride could be. Yet she cut it too close, pulled up too late...before the fiery pegasus could even understand what was happening, her tail had snagged against a branch and all the momentum she had built up came ramming into her...and the pony she was carrying.

The whiplash had knocked Rainbow out for a few moments. The second she woke up, however, she knew everything had gone wrong. Knew there was no longer another body's weight on her legs. "...Apple...jack...?" she called out groggily, wedging herself free of the tree branch she'd caught on. No answer came.
"Applejack?" she shouted again, more lucid now and beginning to glide slowly around the area, eyes darting all across the fields in search of her friend. Still no answer.
"APPLEJACK?" Panic was gripping Rainbow's heart now; why wasn't the Earth Pony answering? Where was she?

That was when Rainbow spotted a distinct spot of orange against the green ground below.

She had grown worried when no one had seen or heard from either Rainbow Dash or Applejack all afternoon and had spent the last few hours looking for them before at last making her way to the woods near Ponyville. The sound of weeping caught her ear as she entered, and with anxious tread she followed it to its soruce, gasping in horror and sorrow at what she found.

Applejack laid out across the ground, Rainbow Dash nestled atop her with tears streaming down her face.

It took everything Twilight had to make Rainbow move, a task made all the harder by the tears the young unicorn felt coming to her own eyes.

Y'see, there was a thread on /co/ a while back (before MLP started) about being a drawfriend, and there was one link about this dude who only started drawing in his 20s, but developed and became a master artist after a while. I've been inspired by that, but I never found the right moment, until now.

It's a parody of a line from an old Tex Avery cartoon that we used to play in Yaridovich's synchtube channel, back before this whole thing exploded into the juggernaut it is.

Look up Tex Avery's "The Dover Boys of Pimento University". At one point the villain, Dan Backslide proclaims "CONFOUND THOSE DOVER BOYS! THEY DRIVE ME TO DRINK!"

It's a quotable line and it kind of stuck. Others have been repeating it without even knowing. You little silly fillies.

well, 4chan and, honestly, much of the internet is a completely different culture than most people are used to. a lot of people get culture shock when they first approach the internet, and surely many more do when they first visit 4chan.

it's a noble endeavor to try and explain 4chan as though it were any other culture - french, african, etc. but that just isn't how it works. much of 4chan's culture is based on in-jokes, and as we all know, one of the cardinal rules of humour is that a joke is a lot less funny when you have to explain it.

There's no one consistent instance of immaturity, though, that would give away their ages. Mainly, they just selectively forget themselves to facilitate whatever that episode's plot is. I mean, I'm twenty-three, and some of the main characters in this show, like Rarity for instance, display more maturity than the average woman I meet.

Life is different in Equestria, so their maturity levels can't really be gauged alongside ours. Often times even adults act like little kids though in many ways. Also we don't really know their lifespans I guess. So in short I don't think about their age too much.

so as i'm sure at least one of you knows and the other doesn't give a shit about, i am currently making plans for a pretty involved story with this basic plot (details subject to change):

In the not-too-distant future, somewhere on the outskirts of Ponyville, there lives a hermit pony whose name had long been lost to time. Every magic user in Equestria had been wiped out by Celestia in an insane bid for power a short while ago. However, rumours begin surface that the hermit pony is, in fact, a unicorn. An enterprising young pegasus pony, part of the upstart rebellion against Celestia, makes the journey to that hermit's house, and what she finds there may just spark the first great magic war.

currently i am debating whether or not to include an OC pony in this story or not. on the one hand, people seem to be violently against OCs (which i understand, I almost always am too), but here is my rationale for including one in this particular story:

the pegasus pony is named Chroma for now. i have no idea what her special talent is. i normally try to avoid OC ponies, but I think I want to include one for a number of reasons here. first of all, the main cast will be featured, but in a perhaps unexpected way. it will not be filled entirely with OC ponies. second, i think it will give the reader somebody to relate to. somebody who doesn’t really know what’s going on, but who has sort of a general idea. we will grow to understand the situation with her, and even meet the main cast alongside her. hopefully she will be relatable enough.

Well, if your story would best be told with somepony not from the main cast, then go for it. You seem to be alert to not making a mary sue, and you can always run the story by a beta reader to make sure that she is serving the plot, not that the plot is serving her.

I can understand condensing the Sailor Moon arc into 2 episodes, though it was kinda a waste of a story arc they could of used to make the friendships feel less forced.
