He looked at the lonely prisoner, and realized that she had it worse. A week from freedom, separated from her friends, and though she maintained her dignity, he could see that she was crushed inside. He looked at the tear that collected in the corner of her eye.
Sadness.
He felt resentment, anger, and frustration, but never let himself feel sadness. She, with the calm, sardonic demeanour she'd cultivated in captivity, contrasted his own feelings.
He started to feel something more. |
