Well, it's pretty simple, actually. We are technologically more advanced, that's without a doubt. And more communicated, that's totally true. But each and every society has had it's own values to work with, and when we try to take them into account with our own values as what's good, people falsely think we are more advanced.
Basically, people thinking we are better because we don't have legal slavery or stuff like that, or because they weren't christians, are just using the logical fallacy "progress is always constant in every way, so we are better". The greeks had their own society with stuff that worked for them. Same for the Huns, and the Catholic Church, and the empiricist revolution, etc... But we see flaws where they had values, and we may see some values of us that they thought they were flaws. |
