So yeah I'm in the planning stages of writefagging a Gilda redemption story with some onesided Gilda/Dash (like that hasn't been done before but I'm not trying to get published or anything so whatever) set sometime after Sonic Rainboom. It'd be a bit of a flip of Griffon the Brush Off in that Rainbow Dash is the one to go visit Gilda, who I imagine will live in some squalid apartment in a city or some shit to contrast with Dash's fancy cloud mansion.
Right now I'm planning on alternating between third-person limited Gilda and Dash to fill out the story, with flashbacks to Speedster camp (is that the name? I'll look it up later) to accent Dash's bluntness and obliviousness and Gilda's descent into that annoying "totally radical" type of cool she has.
While I do have (what I believe to be) a sufficient prompt for Dash to go out of her way to even talk to Gilda again, my main concern is, as with most stories attempting to portray a douchey character in a more sympathetic light, that I will lean too far into making the reader feel sympathetic for Gilda without emphasizing that she's, well, an asshole and ultimately responsible for her actions which would make for a more satisfying change in her behavior. Right now I'm planning on Gilda going back (or, more appropriately, Dash forcing her to) and trying to make amends with those she wronged, specifically Pinkie Pie and Fluttershy, but for some reason I do not feel as if this will be enough. Any suggestions? Would anyone even give a rat's ass about this? |
