part 8-
The ascent in the heart of the mountain went quicker than expected, all the traffic was a distant noise. Proudhoof felt, for the first time in a very, very long time, in a place he belonged. The armoured pegasi that had been following the rising carriage sped up to open a set of large doors, blocking entrance to palace itself. As the thick wooden doors moved outwards, the sights of the palace spilled into the haze of the secluded rock road. Unicorns, students of magic milled outside a colossal glass window, occasionally stopping to consider whatever it is magical ponies consider, before moving on to matters of study. Inside the immediate room, a small garage had been built for the storage of vehicles. The pegasi parked them in this, tying the carriages wheels to posts, just in case.
The dragon was now fully awake, and completely dumbfounded at what had suddenly occurred in the past twenty minutes. He had hatched, seen the gates of Canterlot and made it inside the palace of Celestia. Not that he knew that any of this was special; he was filled with a terror that all newborns are filled with. The world seemed too large, and he was being whisked away at a pace unnatural to him. He had considered running, but the angry looks the guards gave him stopped any thoughts of resistance. When they moved to pick him up, he let them. Him and the light blue stallion were led through countless rooms, decorated with portraits of top generals, academics and heroes of Equestria, until they reached a small chamber, with a large set of immaculately painted double doors at the farthest end. |
