"I know that AppleJack says it sometime, but I don't know what it means. It isn't in any thesoraus or dictionary that I've read. I assume that it's a contraction of "Consign it to darn it."'
Apple Bloom snickered at the half-serious look on Twilight's face. Then the red-haired yellow-hide pony stopped.
"Whadda ya mean you've 'read a dictionary?'"
Twilight rolled her eyes, getting a brief flash of the red stripe in her own purple mane. She glanced back at Bloom, but held what she wanted to say. The little girl seemed to be struggling with something new. It was probably a new idea. Twilight didn't want to inturrupt something that Apple Bloom might not think of inside (what Twilight considered) her dismal schooling and her grass-brained home-life.
Keeping her own council, she waited for Apple Bloom to catch up.

Mac's prompt didn't get any reaction from AppleJack. The dark red plow horse didn't see any reason to repeat himself. He just trotted over to the little stub of wood near the wall and used it to scrape the dirt from the bottom of his hooves.
Then he left the barn. Moving at a leasurely, unstoppable pace.
He came back in, followed by Twilight Sparkle and Apple Boom.

"Eeewwwww. Ew." Everyone ignored AppleJack.

"Ah mahd it!" AppleBloom piped up happily, forgetting to control her ingrained accent.

By habit, as he did when around any angry woman, Big Mac judged the running distance to the barn door before opening his mouth. Perhaps he could hear Bloom's confession to Twilight. "I know you're a little bit country, sis, but that's no reason to make such a fuss over someone doing the Twist."

This picture. First episode, about 4 minutes in. Look at it.

Twilight Sparkle and Spike are discovering the prophecy about Nightmare Moon's return. And at this point there's a reflection of Nightmare Moon as Twilight walks past the giant hourglass. Why?

Was Nightmare's return so near that a pony discovering the prophecy could awaken her image, in a library full of knowledge, reflected in an hourglass that is so large it would take 1000 years for the sand to fall?

"The stars shall aid in her escape". Twilight's cutie mark is several stars. And she has powerful unicorn magic. Could her inquisitiveness have been the spark for such events? Powerful magic and an ancient prophecy come together. Just as Celestia intended.

Very powerful magic. So powerful, Twilight is the spirit of magic. She is able to wield the elements of harmony. The only other pony to ever do this was Princess Celestia. Twilight is powerful, as much as an immortal Princess. And the elements of harmony gave her a crown. Like Celestia.... or Luna.

Where did she get this affinity for magic? Twilight is still very young. She is obviously close to Celestia; her 'most faithful student'. Why does she get special treatment? Celestia treats her like family, like a daughter.

And Celestia knew that it would be Twilight who defeated Nightmare Moon. How? Twilight is powerful, but there is no mention of another pony in the prophecy. In fact, the prophecy states that Nightmare returns and covers the land in eternal night. No happy ending.

So Celestia engineered a different outcome. The prophecy stated Nightmare would succeed. So Celestia pit Nightmare against herself.
