Derpy had reached one of the last stops on her journey. Mr and Ms. Cakes shop. Strangely, Derpy rarely visited, despite her natural pony instinct to eat till she was obese. Perhaps it was the embarrassment of that first time she came here. She had only just gotten out of school, and wanted to celebrate finishing ahead of every other filly in her entire year. Her mother had given her some money to buy whatever she liked. She decided to share this with her good friend Pinky Pie. Pinky was a wild card, a joker. Not many people understood her, and she tended to get shunned for her outbursts, but Derpy like them. They were refreshing. Better than the ‘Better than you bullshit she had sat through for 6 long years. Pinky was something else. She wanted to make her pink friend feel better, the same way she’d made her feel better about school, and could think of no better way than candy. Pinky had always loved the stuff. It was almost scary. Upon arriving in the store, Pinky had already made her way towards the muffins. At the time, Ditsy had hated muffins, they were too thick, they had no texture, and she just didn’t like having to unwrap something sweet that wasn’t candy. It was all irrelevant; she would get it for her friend, and enjoy it all the same. They walked to the counter, where a young Ms. Cake, recently married, was smiling at them broadly. No worry lines dodged across her forehead, that wouldn’t happen until the 4th year of the Cake’s marriage. There were many things that Mr. Cake loved. It was just when he found he loved to drink more than Ms. Cake, that things took a violent turn. She hid the marks with Rarity’s make up, but it went deeper than skin deep. She was still with him, to this day. That always confused Derpy. But on this day, 8 years ago, with Pinky pie bouncing excited besides her, shouting ‘Muffin!’ over and over again, such things did not worry her. |
