03/07/11(Mon)18:05 No.24101489One such dragon is Twilight's slave, a gift from Celestia. It is young and weak and callow, but in it lies the strength of all dragons. Terra spoke with Luna about the dragons many times. As they grow older they lose their patience and seek solitude. They are neither friends of Celestia nor her enemies, they are content to dine on the spoils of the Earth and breathe its air, they do not fret from heat or cold, they need not care for the seasons, nor the wind, the sun, or the rain.
Twilight's slave, the dragon, Spike, is not yet immune to all these things. Nevertheless he will have to protect his keeper should she turn against Celestia. Luna doubts he will stand to the task, and her doubt fills her with fear. Even immortals fear. When she fears she listens to the Earth, for her mother's voice, who created this world and lies beneath it all for the love of her daughter.
A war between Terra and Celestia is impossible. Should Terra have waged it, the result would have been uncertain, and much devastation would have been wrought upon the land. Instead she chose her own suffering, and let her daughter rule unquestioned, and did not resist when she was banished to the bowels of the Earth. When she spoke to Luna she assured her it is for the best, and that with the elements of harmony, Twilight will restore the order as it first was, sparing the mortals the bloodshed of war.
Celestia sensed Twilight's power over the elements of harmony. All mortals spoke of the wisest one, Twilight, who possesses magic unmatched by the great and powerful witches and wizards of the past. Celestia, who did not wish to destroy her mother's creation before understanding it, saw in Twilight the key to solving the mysteries that perplexed her for all these thousands of years, and so Twilight's life was not at risk, and Celestia's vanity kept from her mind any thought of danger or rebellion. |
