>Twilight beat the Ursa by being kind to it and helping it go to sleep. Trixie just tried to hurt or kill it. Twilight won because she didn't care about "winning," she just wanted to solve the problem. Trixie was so hung up on being better that she didn't even think to just try and pacify the Ursa.
Well to be fair, Twilight was reading up on the Ursa Minor beforehand. Trixie basically had one dropped on her front door, literally, with no time to prepare herself. Twilight didn't do very well against the Hydra, and even worse against the Cocktrice (she was killed, more or less). No Batmare prep-time seems to mean certain doom in this show.
Also, I'm surprised Trixie even stayed to try to defeat the Ursa Minor at all. Trixie could have just as easily ran and left Ponyville to its demise. She didn't owe them anything after getting heckled. I think it's pretty commendable that she tried to help. I didn't see anybody else doing anything, other than Twilight of course. One could argue Trixie did it just to satisfy her own ego, but by the way her demeanor shifted at that point in the show, I think she was really trying to be helpful as best she could. |
