>>23907832 I could break the text limit with this. I've spent a bit of idle work time mapping out exactly what I'd love to do to an MLP game. I'll go for a shortened version of this.
Those who played Scott Pilgrim's beat'em up, imagine that as the basic engine. Pixel beat'em'up, multiplayer up to all the main cast.Battle through familiar Equastria locations on a path to save Luna from the re-emergence of Nightmare Moon. Now for the mechanics!
Each character would have a move set matching their persona. Pretty basic stuff, AJ strong, Dash speed and air juggle, etc. A few exceptions
Pinkie Pie utilizes a wild combo system that zooms her all across the screen with her cartoon physics and 4th wall knowledge. Mid combo, she might zoom off screen and appear on the other side, continue the combo, smear-frame to new location, etc.
Fluttershy has to manage her Shy bar. Enemy proximinty and damage increase shyness, friend proximity or danger decrease it. Rather than fighting directly, most of her time is spent in support, an AI controlled Angel doing most of the fighting while the player tries to keep Flutters safe.
Each character has a friendship bar which they build when they satisfy co-op conditions. Interrupting a combo on a friend, reviving a downed pony, joint combos and the like will build the bar. This is absolutely critical to beating the game as friendship opens up a character's special moves, which give each pony breathing space from the myriad of enemies (6 pony controlled characters make a TON of onscreen enemies!).
When a friend activates a friendship power, there is half a second when another pony can activate hers as well for a special animation and stacking damage/power ups. When all 6 ponies have maxed out friendship meters and activate them at once, Elements of Harmony are summoned and nuke the screen in rainbows. Yes, I've spent far too long thinking about this. No, I don't regret it. |
