I doubt if we'll see Twilight's parents, since Celestia is sort of her "adopted mother". It's unlikely anything will be presented that would get in the way of that.
It's occurred to me that Rarity and Applejack may have had very similar upbringings. I suspect Applejack doesn't actually own Sweet Apple Acres; she just manages it for the greater Apple family--all those relations are in together in one big Equestrian agri-business. Applejack is working her butt off to demonstrate she's a good estate manager, which will let her move up in the Apple family heirarchy. Her parents probably pushed her into doing it, because that was how they were raised.
Likewise, I picture Rarity's parents putting a ton of pressure on their daughter too. They're probably extremely wealthy, but tight-fisted and emotionally cold, making Rarity want to move out of the house to get away from them. Rarity is just starting in the dressmaking business, and I figure that the reason she owns her own shop is that her parents loaned her the money to buy it. Like Applejack, she's working her butt off, only in her case to pay back her parents and finally become independent of them.
Rainbow Dash is a disappointment to her parents. She had enormous talent as a filly, but could never apply herself, and ended up dropping out of flight school and taking what is the equivalent of a street-sweeper's job so that she can have time to slack off. I picture her father as being a stern, no-nonsense, probably military type who is too proud to accept his daughter's carefree lifestyle.
I have no clue what Fluttershy or Pinkie Pie's parents might be like. Fluttershy's parents might be loud and boisterous and totally failing to understand their shy, sensitive daughter. Pinkie Pie's parents could be just as nutty as she is--perhaps she came from a whole family of lunatic ponies. |
