What i ask myself... how much cost a episode of MLP ?
I found a german website with priceschema´s where a 24 episodes of a cartoon (22 minutes) cost 5,5 million euro, i think this will be 7-9 million dollar. It´s well made with good backgrounds but not so good animation and it´s not flash-made. 3D animation cost there 50% more.

Flash looks cheaper than 3D but better than normal cartoons, maybe it´s between this ?

I love the new rules.

The 10 MLP threads on the front page were ruining the morale of this board.

A mod from /b/ got pissed at all the ponies coloring up his personal secret playhouse, so he called them all trolls, banned most of them and deleted their threads. Feeling that trolling of such magnitude had to be an attack from somewhere, he followed the pony trail back to here and started another purge.

After it became clear that his massive ban festival was doing noting more that stirring up troll threads and dropping people who were talking about a cartoon on the Comics and Cartoons board the rules were put up to try and save face. It didn't really work, but things are starting to get back to normal so no one is really complaining. Except for all the meta discussion complaining about the whole thing.

As they are written now, the rules are almost exactly what everyone on /co/ involved with ponies had been doing previously, so it's not really all that big a deal.

When we all left the last one, one handy mod/janitor neatly removed the last thread we had.
These are the only threads currently, in some way or form, related to My Little Pony and as you can clearly see, this one is filling up fast, because it's the general.

TV budgets are pretty closely controlled secrets - so - who knows. Flash animation is *much* cheaper than 3D in terms of man power - but also much cheaper than traditional animation since computers handle a lot of the tweening (the frames "in between" key frames) and other grunt work.

It's also misleading as there are labour incentives such as tax credits for production work done in Canada (where much of the show is animated) - so your total budget isn't necessarily indicative of the "actual cost".

I don't even want to hazard a guess (I work in live-action, animation is a completely different beast) but a "pulled out of my ass" guess would be the series would clock in at somewhere between $250-350k per episode - Or roughly in the neighborhood of 6-8M CDN per season?

The Cocktrice seemed pretty hellbent on chasing down the ponies for nothing else but to get its stone on. In the first episode, they were terrified of the Manticore, and other dangers, such as fast running water, are enough to discourage them. I'd even consider Poison Joke to be something that's not commonly encountered, and it's a pain in the ass to deal with. Generally speaking, everypony seems afraid of the things that happen in the Everfree forest, so superstition also plays into it.

I'd say that the perceived dangers are pretty solid to them.

For example, if i watch MLP and than Pokemon Best Wishes, it make not much fun to watch it anymore, because of the animation. It´s a hard work to draw all scenes, so they try to reduce animations, in MLP with flash it looks like they can do all what they wan´t and did it.

Only the backgrounds lack on beautiness, drawn backgrounds are much better, but didn´t fit well with flashanimation.

Like some revolutionary themed (like having a red flag cutie mark or being red as a whole) pony appearing and constantly complaining about Celestia, so Twilight tries most of the episode to get her out of complaining about it (not being able to understand how someone could do such thing).

In the end the revo pony only wants to make sure that really everyone is happy with Celestia's rulership, so twilight gathers everyone around and ask them if they are happy and want her as a ruler, when everyone says "yes" the revo pony is happy but still opposes Celestia, including not bowing down and proclaiming something along the line of "No gods, no masters", before going her way again.

The whole thing being simply an aesop that a good ruler can accept critic and that the ponies actualy have a right about what ever Celestia rules or not (which could also be used for a multi episode drama).

Every time I saw someone posting ponies in other peoples shit I got pissed. We already had an infinite stream of autosage-level general threads, but that wasn't enough for some dickheads.

People read too much into the ep summaries. Prior to SRB everyone was convinced it was an all-Rarity ep (and it was more Dash centric) and last week had almost as much Fluttershy as the CMC's. I've written broadcast summaries for tv shows before and "accurately and evenhandedly conveying the entirety of the plot" was not one of my primary concerns. For serialized television they're pretty much only short-hand for people to know if they've seen a particular episode or not.

That's a very good question, but...its the kind of thing I really don't feel capable of speculating on at all. The parent-child dynamic has yet to be explored at all on the show, and I have no idea how it will work.

The "Easy YouTube Video Downloader" plugin for Firefox will let you rip YouTubes to mp3 and all songs (plus the cool fan mixes and Eurobronie remixes) are there.

(Yes it's compressed, but with MLP the compression at the source material broadcast is going to be your fidelity bottleneck, unless someone's done a really crappy encode).
