I'm excited for the CMCs to get marked, whenever it happens. As of now, they're not very well characterised. Just kind of small, cute, and they work together in a group, doing and saying the same things.

Once they find their special talents, I hope to see a deeper characterisation for each of them, and unique personalities coming through.

Pinkie's mark is a balloon, but she still works in a bakery. Sure she could be a professional party planner because that is her special talent, but she chooses not to be. For her, her cutie mark reflects her hobby. She also ice skates.

I like the Cutie Mark Crusaders. I think they provide good contrast to the mane characters and even add to them. We get to see different sides of the mane characters' personalities when they're with the CMC that we don't get to see when they're with each other. It's also a nice, fun change of pace from the other episodes.

I agree. I want to see as many angles of the cast's personality as possible, because their personality is why I love the show. Gimme an episode with Pinkie Pie, Applejack and Rainbow Dash interacting with the kids (perhaps a camping trip?) and I'd be fine.

I have a feeling that the next episode, being strongly focused on the kids' 'crusade' instead of just being babysat, will do much bring out their characters as well. "Haters" still won't like them, I reckon, but that's to be expected. When you don't like something, that's that.

Guys, I need your help. I'm gonna try my hand at writing a fic, which also includes 3 OC. To be exact, a male earth pony, a male unicorn and a male pegasus, all of them are good friends with each other.
The point of the fics is displaying the reactions of these 3 guys being put in situations where they must lend a hand to Twilight and her friends, and how these guys slowly realize the huge gap between them and the girls, especially when they try to figure out what must feel to carry Celestia's requests and the huge responsability that goes with it.

I need to hear what typical mistakes should I avoid and why.

I read the infamous "cupcakes" one, and I appreciate what the author was gunning for, but they lacked description because they seemed too eager to come up with another horror element to tack on.

Tell me how wings feel. What's it like to fly? Does it ever get stressful? What do you enjoy about it? Make me understand why Rainbow Dash is passionate about flying. Don't simply rely on my human dream to be able to fly as I stare longingly at a bird and desire to escape the human condition. Instead, describe the escape and freedom she feels with the cool chill of the wind whipping past her face, gliding under her wings, as she explodes through the rainbow barrier. Describe how naturally she controls her self as she effortless and thoughtlessly picks herself from the ground up a flight of stairs. Most of all, understand her dream of being so good at her innate ability that she's invited to join the best of the best in the class.

If you are truly interested in writing for MLP, you need to be more than a fan. You need to feel the hopes and dreams of the characters and what character flaws ground them. Rainbow Dash is cocky and arrogant at times, and has a huge, vulnerable ego. These are great meta traits that you can harness to build an amazing story. Indulge in them.

Of course, you don't need to do this right off the bat, write what you can and work traits into it later.

Most of all, enjoy every bit of it.
