I came in really late, around episode 12 If I remember. I was one of those people who spammed /b/ with the "fuck your gay pony shit" stuff. I've taken quite a liking to it and watch it every week with my little sister.

I pretend not to like it when my parents are around us, but as soon as they leave we just start gushing about ponies. My sister and I are the best of friends now and I approve wholeheartedly of what the show is teaching young girls.

It's pretty obvious that Celestia is a princess purely on Disney logic that queens are evil and princesses are good.

It works out alright and little girls love to imagine being a princess but never really a queen so it fits the whole ponies being cute thing.

In any case I prefer the idea of just a Sun god and a Moon god without the crazy kind of monotheistic power of a single all knowing god.

There hasn't been any pony mythology in the show since Episode two.

Compared to the distinct characterisation of the main ponies, the CMC just don't seem to have the same charm or much to differentiate each other. I liked the CMC for the first few minutes of this episode (OHAI FLUTTERSHY! OHAI RARITY! OHAI APPLEBLOOM!), but the "we're excitable babbies" gimmick got old quick. The best written scenes of episode were Fluttershy chatting with Rarity in the opening, and then Fluttershy drinking tea with Twilight towards the end.

Probably won't rewatch more than once. I like the eps about mature ponies for mature viewers such as myself.

I feel like the problem was this episode wasn't really about them, and yet they got the majority of the screen time.

Applebloom is a great character on her own, and she was really solid in Call of the Cutie and Bridle Gossip. And Sweetie Bell got some great characterization bits in this episode, and really came into her own.

But this episode was written to be about Fluttershy... and most of the screentime was devoted to the CMC acting fun and silly. And not as individual character, but as a group without much single personality. Just cute little girls doing cute things for Fluttershy to worry over.

In short, it lacked focus. The script could have used a couple more rewrites to streamline it. It wasn't BAD per say, but its certainly not nearly as good as most of the others.

Agreed. I think another problem is that the CMC by definition lack any real personality. The whole idea behind the characters is that they don't have an identity yet, which can only carry an episode so far. Call of the Cutie worked because it was about Applebloom learning to accept who she is and overcoming the judgement of Diamond Tiara and Silver Spoon. Plus Apple Bloom is the token little sister of the show. This episode was kind of flat because the CMC just aren't as interesting as the main ensemble.

I don't think it helps that Apple Bloom is just a babby Apple Jack and Sweetie Bell is now just a clone of Rarity.

Not that guy, but guh, do I hate this style of online roleplay. Most parts of the huge ass posts are just filler and purple prose because people feel like they have to post a long shitty ass post every time.
