You seem to be misunderstanding the concept of disliking a character. Disliking a character does not nessesarily mean I think that character is poorly made. I means that I dislike them as a character.

For example, I just got through playing Red Dead Redemption. Agent Ross in that game is a very well realized character. I also happen to fucking despise him because he is a two faced, lying snake.

I agree, Look Before You Sleep felt kind of forced and predictable to me. It still had its moments, but it was pretty bland. Staremaster gave us more of angry Fluttershy which we had only seen once and showed what the CMC are like outside of school/parties.

Pretty much this, and lets be fair it wasn't a bad episode so much as it wasn't as good as some of the other episodes we've had lately. The problem with the Cutie Mark Crusaders is that they've not been characterised enough for any one of them to be unique, you could interchange any of their parts with another's and the only one who stands out is Apple Bloom with her accent.

Really though, this episode was about Fluttershy like we expected it to be. The CMC were there as a plot device to show that Fluttershy isn't particularly good with children because she has to be pushed into a corner before she'll put her hoof down and show any discipline.

Still, it's always great to see Fluttershy pushed to the extremes to the point she goes from a sensitive shy girl to a intimidating stern woman who can look into your soul and be ~disappointed~ in you.

That's what the stare is all about. It's Fluttershy looking into your eyes and seemingly knowing all the bad things you've ever done until you back down for the sheer shame of all your sins. Fluttershy's power is ~purity~

I don't hate the CMC, Apple Bloom alone works wonders for a episode at times and in Call of the Cutie Mark she was good right up until the moment they introduced her to two more fillies just like her, only they covered the other two pony races.

Thing is, it's not like there isn't potential for them to set themselves apart, Scootaloo for example seems like she'll be the aggressive tomboy type, Applebloom is more likely to be stubborn and ultimately sort of like Applejack as she grows older, while Sweetie Bell is going to be the girlish one taking on aspects from Rarity. That's why Scootaloo and Apple Bloom argue so well, they are basically tiny Rainbow Dash and Apple Jack.

Just finished the new episode, and it didn't turn out as bad as I expected. I went into the episode expecting it to be nonstop CMC annoying me, but they weren't that bad.
