I just finished reading Reconnections part 7. It's exhausting, but worth the read if anypony has read The Severing.

Spoilers: I liked how the same setting was reimagined. I'm a fan of time wars, such as Terminator and Doctor Who, and this was quite a fascinating read from that perspective.
I also liked the shout-outs: ohmygosh ohmygosh ohmygosh, Rarity's setup, and the other one I've forgotten but was the best of all.

The ending seemed too blunt, too cold, but one should never underestimate the banality of revenge. Where Cupcakes was a thing of fascinating horror, the ending of Reconnection was... solid yet realistic. Good people gathering in the dead of night to do bad things. I feel unclean for having participated, yet glad that it's over.

Yet I can't help but think of this as the second part in a trilogy, which should end in something bright and wonderful...

Could work, but it sort of detracts from the sense of betrayal you got with Solo Wing, through the game he's your competent wingman but after witnessing indiscriminate bombing of a enemy city followed by Belka literally nuking itself out of spite at the end of the way, he joins a revolutionary force made up of pilots from all involved nations sick of the constant wars and atrocities, A World with No Boundaries. From there they continue the fighting and you end up in a secret war trying to stop them from completing their end objective to fire a advanced nuclear MIRV system to basically reset everything and start over, the backup control system being in a prototype plane they acquired from defeated Belka.

So it ends with you fighting your former best friend as he goads and taunts you to perhaps the best final mission music ever.

The whole thing just sort of works better with Gilda and Dash, former friends, both are excellent fliers and there is a sense of resentment from Gilda at ponies in general as they were kind of dicks about it.
