Snips & Snails were the ones to carry out the plan of bringing the Ursa, but Spike has his part in pushing them too. None of the main cast, other than Twilight Sparkle, are guilt free. The Rarity 'Nam pony is actually mu favorite of the series since it doesn't have to try to stay on model and yet invent what musculature would look like.

I can easily see her being broken in to mud and crap during whatever pony basic she goes through and she's clearly apt with extremely fine manipulation with her horn so sharpshooting fits quite well.

Being able to dress up in camo makeup better than any other pony would be like icing on the cake for her. I can easily see her coming out the other end of this war relatively untraumatized and reopening her dress shop.

Truth be told, I do see Trixie as a reasonably successful show-pony, but just as much, she's a charlatan. I think she made a habit of going to different towns and boasting and lying like she does, but winning the crowd over in the end with her tricks. It just so happened that Ponyville was when the lying caught up to her and someone was dumb enough to try to get her to fight an Ursa Major. If Snips and Snails had never been around, then Trixie would have had a decent show, probably made a couple more bucks, and though people wouldn't like her as a pony, they'd respect her talent.

Most real stage performers will win the crowd over with fantastic tricks and give a good performance over announcing their own reputation. They've dealt with hecklers and know it's best to just ignore them and keep the show going.

Trixie not only stopped her show to challenge ponyville but she taunted (as with the "little hayseed" comment, the "dash of good sense" gag and calling Rarity's hair a rat's nest) and instead of actually doing stunts better, like she challenged, she just bullied around AJ, RD and Rarity. In the end Murphy's law kicked in and all her boasting caught up with her..

You could say the moral of the lesson was that being good at something is perfectly fine but taking it to the point of kicking around others for your amusement doesn't help anyone.

This doesn't make her an 'evil' pony, you could say Trixie is what Twilight MAY have been if she wasn't taught lessons of friendship. She was designed to show the dark side of what Twilight could be, just as Gilda was designed to show the bad side of what Rainbow could be.
Please don't assume I dislike these characters, I'm just tired of people making them out as victims when they did it to themselves.
