Rainbow Dash had been racking her brain for days thinking of some way to repay Twilight for such an amazing gift. The Wonderbolt's history book had helped her out a lot after the Best Young Flyer's competition. Not only were they impressed with her flying skills, but her extensive knowledge of the team's history had taught them a few things as well.

"Just what do you get a brainy pony like Twilight anyway?" the sky blue pegasus said as she relaxed on a cloud.

She didn't want to get her a book. Twilight already had hundreds of them and giving her one more to add to the pile wouldn't be anything special. It had to be something cool. Something truly spectacular.

"Ugh," Rainbow Dash buried her face into cloud fluff. "Since when was giving someone a present so hard?"

"Rainbow Dash!" a familiar voiced called out to her.

She peeked over the edge of her cloud and spotted Twilight Sparkle smiling up at her. The violet unicorn was carrying a saddlebag full of books and she seemed to be struggling a bit with the weight.

"Would you mind helping me clean up at the library?" she asked as Rainbow Dash flew down to meet her. "Spike's away on royal business again and everypony else is busy. I could really use an extra hoof or two."

I am really afraid guys. And I'll tell you why.

We all know that the creators of this show put down some ground rules as to what the show should be about.
-The show should be about young adults. There was no interest in creating a show that dealt with childrens problems, like homework and fighting with your parents. This was most likely one of the rules that Faust herself put down, as I can recall her mentioning that she found cartoons written for girls to be incisively stupid. Of course the earlier incarnations of MLP sucked because of many reasons but the main reasons was that the plot rarely moved into areas besides childish crap.

The clear opinion of Faust in this regard is probably the greatest reason as to why FIM is so (comparatively) successful. However, I fear that she had to make some compromises, and these compromises are what I am the most afraid of at the moment.

My theory is that in this new version of MLP a compromise in plot-vision has taken the form of the cutie mark crusaders, and I fear that the remaining episodes that centers around them will bring us back into the shady areas of stupidity that made the old show so unlikeable. I suspect that their inclusion is just a thrown bone to other higher powers in the industry that where afraid to go "all the way" when resurrecting their MLP franchise, and in order to satisfy all parts concerned; the CMC where invented as a way to introduce homework- and babysitting -plotlines in MLP:FIM. (I can slightly recall that there's an episode coming up that is about a talent show, which seems awfully familiar:
