"But you're fitting in already, Twilight! You have so many new friends, and you've already helped out a lot around Ponyville!" Spike cried. "Besides, have you even LOOKED at this book you're reading from?"
He grabbed it out of the air and held it up. In truth, the binding was PARTICULARLY thick and scabby, and the gold filigree that adorned its surface seemed to glisten oddly, as though it were lit from within.
Twilight sighed. "Spike... all I want to do is examine myself thoroughly. Now, according to the spell, everything I do well the reflection of me should do badly, and everything I do badly, the reflection of me should do well. All I need to do is talk with it for a little bit, and I'll be able to see my flaws laid out clearly. Then I can correct them! It probably won't even take an hour. What's the harm?"
Spike gazed into her violet eyes, saw how hopeful and earnest she was. He'd always had trouble saying 'no' to Twilight's enthusiasm; though she could be somewhat laconic, when she did get excited, it was contagious. "All right," he said with a sigh. "What do I need to do?"
"Well, we'll need a mirror," Twilight looked just where she knew to look: in the far corner of the room, where a large, oval-shaped mirror rested upon wrought iron posts. Spike hurried over to it and dragged it in front of Twilight.
"What else?"
"Hmmm..." Twilight consulted the spell again. "I think I just need to say the magic words, now. They're very strange..." Twilight took a deep breath. She looked at herself in the mirror: her own, reversed image glanced back at her. "Well, here it goes."
She began to breath slowly, in and out, just as the spell instructed. Then, she began to speak, low at first, rising to a higher and higher pitch:
N'GACH TRASSA V'TAH N'GA, N'GACH TRASSA V'TAH N'GA, N'GA TREEEEEEE-TSFA, TREEEEEEEEEE-TSA-TSA-TSA!!! NOORODOC N'GACH TRASSA!!" |
