Anybody else notice the increase of hate on Rainbow Dash of late? It was really potent today, far more than usual. She is arguably the most popular pony of them all, and with popularity will always bring haters. However, they are getting more and more vocal as the series progresses.

Funny enough, rarely does anybody come to defend Rainbow Dash when it happens either. Bust a little on Rarity? Forget it, an angry mob comes after you with torches and a pitchfork. Pinkie Pie? Shit is on like Donkey Kong. Throw a jab at Trixie, or even Gilda? They get an amazing amount of fans that are on you like shingles. The MLP fanbase is like pigeons about Zecora though, not caring enough to like or dislike her sadly.

In short, the Rainbow Dash Defense Force is pretty lackluster compared to the others. Are they just as lazy as Rainbow Dash is, not caring either way? Or do they just have no ammunition to shoot back?

Pretty much this. Every pony has moments I love them, and moments of their flaw.

Twilight can be a close minded know it all obsessed with being right. Or she can be exceptionally sweet and helpful, and sympathetic as she is still new to this friend stuff and trying to find her place.

Pinkie Pie runs off her mouth a bit, and her bubble gum personality irritates some people or ponies. But she will make you laugh, and its hard to hate some one whose goal in life is to smile.

Rainbow Dash, already covered. She's a jerk sometimes. But she has her moments of supporting friends, or bragging about how cool they are. When she's out, trying to do the next most awesome stunt, that's when she becomes your waifu.

Rarity is a fashionista, and a very easily archetype to dislike. But then she turns around and breaks the mold.

AJ, same as Rarity. But I find her emphasis on action over words to give her, her own rough and tumble charm.

Fluttershy needs more episodes goddamnit.

I like Dash, and even I have trouble defending her behavior in FWF.

Dash's biggest flaw prior to this is that she has almost Pinkie-levels of ADD and no foresight. If she did something dickish, it was because she spent zero time thinking about the consequences, which is why she almost pranked Fluttershy but backed down when Pinkie told her it would hurt her feelings. Even in Dragonshy she was trying to urge Twilight to not to bring her. It wasn't until Fluttershy had royally fucked up with the avalanche that she actually insulted her to her face.

In FWF however, Dash:

Outright says she hates losing and establishes herself as a poor sport compared to AJ.
Is the first to resort to cheating.
Refuses to believe Twilight when she tells her AJ didn't trip her.

I still like Dash, I just want to see more of the awesome, headlong-into-action heroic Dash, rather than the pissy, whiny, complainy, cheaty, jerky-jerk Dash.

AJ was in good spirits for most of the competition.

She didn't get upset until she saw Dash using her wings, and even then kept quiet as long as she could stand it.

She offered Dash a second chance to try and beat her fairly.
