I've mentioned this before, but I had a dream recently where a Gummy plush was announced at Toy Fair. It was about 20 inches tall or so. I was going to buy it SO HARD.

I'm hoping that with toy lines like Littlest Pet Shop having "non-cute" animals, they MIGHT bring in a (hugely inaccurate-looking) Gummy toy, but the reason LPS has bugs and reptiles might be because after the five-hundredth horse, you gotta branch out.

Why is it each pony has a bizarre relationship with their pets?

I certainly like the designs of the ponies and Spike, but I very consistently dislike any other animal designs on the show. Rarity's ugly cat, those dumb-looking frogs Fluttershy was transporting, Pinkie's goofy-looking alligator, all the other little animals look markedly worse than the main designs and on top of that, don't even look like they're the same style. Like they should be on a different, far less good show entirely. Do they get little attention due to unimportance? Are they given to a separate character design artist?

The only things that aren't ponies or Spike that I thought fit in well were the parasprites and the dragon with the treasure horde.

And it's worth noting that even if the moral was to "have faith", it's poorly done because Twilight was performing bad science. In the lab, she wasn't even testing Pinkie. You don't hook up electrodes and wait. You don't even need a lab. You just sit Pinkie somewhere, and start doing things near her without her warning. Do this enough and you can determine how accurate her predictions are and how often they happen. And even if Twilight DIDN'T test her, the fact that Pinkie's predictions were repeatable means there's something going on there that Twilight was too biased to see. Add in that this is a world where MAGIC exists, and the entire thing was handled horribly. If there's a moral in that episode, it should be "Don't let your biases blind you from new ideas." Which even scientists facing new scientific theories have to deal with quite a bit.
