02/14/11(Mon)03:14 No.23468194Sup Bronies. There were a load of problems last week with the live streams so I decided to do something. Flash shit like Ustream/livestream is just terrible. Shit quality and they delete your streams due to copyright infringement/trolls? lolno Anyway, I've decided to take matters into my own hands. I set up 2 live test streams of the Hub and I was hoping a few of you guys could test them here, before the show actually airs next week to give me an idea of how well this works. The Hub isn't offered in HD for me so I can only provide SD feeds. Still, broadcast quality ponies are nothing to scoff at! To watch a stream, just paste the URL into a video player like VLC, MPlayer, Coreplayer/TCPMP, MPC-HC, Windows Media Player etc. VLC or Mplayer should work without configuration.
Okay, enough talk. Here are the stream URLs:
MPEG2 2000kbps http://98.225.184.245:8082 This is an unmodified retransmission of the raw MPEG2 TS of Hub via my cable company's (Comcast) cable box connected by firewire cable. Yes, live, broadcast quality ponies in the exact same quality I see them here at home! Record with VLC and get the ponies in the same quality a cable company DVR would record them. As this is 2000kbps, you will need quite a fast connection or at least a large enough buffer to watch this smoothly. Also has closed captions.
H.264 300kbps http://98.225.184.245:8083 This is the low bandwidth stream. It's pretty comparable to the above stream visually but, as with any live reencode, there is some loss of quality. You may also notice compression artifacts during high motion scenes and perhaps some sync issues/choppiness if I'm messing with the server. I may this to a less demanding coded on a better machine later.
Both streams are 528x480, the same resolution my cable company provides the channel in. |
