a new thread. /co/ doesn't mind if we stay in
a general thread, but the biggest complaint I
see from them is that there are multiple threads.

A new general should not be made until the official
general is on the brink of autosaging into 404 hell,
and is at the image limit (150 pics). Once a new one
is established, it should be posted at the end of the
old general and everyone needs to herd themselves to
the next.

For writers (and indeed most artists), negative feedback is just as, if not more appreciated because it lets us know where we need to improve.

When we don't get any... we stagnate. We either think "Nobody's reading it so why bother" or "Nobody's responding to it so it must suck." Either way, we lose motivation to continue unless we either a) know that it's being enjoyed or b) Find something that needs improving so that we can work on it.

Bronies, I think it’s time we took a look the current state of our general threads. Now hear me out on this, I love ponies as much as the next brony, but it just has to be said. Our threads have obviously decreased in quality over time, but it has been an ever steepening slope that we are sliding down. I don’t think we’re as bad as some of the trolls/haters think we are (by no means are we the next sonic fanbase) but oh man, are we drawing close. I have no problem with the Fanfics, or the OC, or the shipping, or the art, or the newest addition to our contributions, music remixes. The only thing I’ve ever not liked about our threads would be the rule 34 and fapfictions, but being on 4chan, I realize that this is an inevitability and it’s going to get posted. At the very least, it seems we’ve cracked down on ourselves and have been keeping it separate and/or spoilered so that those who don’t wish to see it don’t have to, and I thank those of you who have done your best to be considerate of other bronies. In fact, thinking back on it, most of us didn’t care about any of these things when all of this pony hubbub started. Somewhere down the line, we became really intolerant of it, almost to the point where we sound like the haters themselves. We haven’t been as mellow with these things lately and I think I know why.

I think this all started way back when the Trip user named Prince of Equestria showed up. The influence that this troll held is still seen today, and our intolerance just goes to show how successful he truly was. With his talk of making a pony “realdoll” and simply saying things like “I will see her in my dreams tonight” in regards to some of our favorite ponies. When this guy was around, he would try to make fake general threads with nothing but information on making MLP Realdolls and how much he wished to have sex with certain ponies. If you remember, this was right before we put the current general system into place, and it was during the weeks where we were met with heavy waves of trolls, the kind that made copious amounts of fake pony threads, then deleting them in a matter of minutes, only to make another one. Successfully clogging up the front page with ponies. On top of this strategy, they were also bumping PoE’s threads. This caused not only over exposure to ponies to the rest of /co/ but it also gave /co/ a completely wrong idea about our fandom (all thanks to PoE): that we are “horsefuckers”. Unfortunately, not all of us were able to not reply to the trolls. That was the point in which /co/ started to become close minded about ponies and bronies.

After that horrible couple of weeks is when we started to care about all of the things I mentioned in my first post before: we didn’t want to be thought of as perverted “horsefuckers” that the trolls and PoE had successfully set out to make us look like. It was then when we got the massive wave of shipping and all the art/34 and fap/fics that came with it. During this 3 week break, we ended up introducing /b/ and many other new people from many different places to MLPFIM. It caught one with some of the people we shared it with. It was a cool time for sharing it with new bronies, but it was the worst possible time to introduce them to the threads. New bronies came to the threads and saw that they were full of shipping and 34. New bronies saw the all of the shipping and thought that it was normal, that it’s what we did. This would have been ok, if not for the sheer volume of the shipping during the 3 week hiatus. The pony drought not only affected the new bronies, but it has left its mark on us as well. Luckily, it seems to be subsiding a little bit due to the flow of new episodes being restored.

Basically, what I’m trying to say is this: We should stop being so anal about what gets posted in pony threads, but at the same time we have to remember that we need to enjoy ponies with moderation. That goes for everything we do/make/discuss. It can only last so long before it gets tiresome. Too much of a good thing is never a good thing. The best examples of this would be: Shipping, the “DO YOU WANT TO” video series, and filler in the Synchtube. These things can only be spammed for so long until they become really annoying. I understand we love ponies, but it is possible to take our love for the ponies too far. And now I have a proposal to make: It is my earnest belief that we need to cut down not only on the paranoia, or shipping, but also on ponies themselves. As much as I love me some ponies, we don’t need a to be discussing ponies at ALL times. I know that there are a lot of bronies, and I know that there are a lot of different timezones that we happen to live in, but I think we should rethink our general system, and when the right time to start a thread is, and cut down on the amount of pony threads we have every day. My suggestion? Don’t go to pony threads or watch ponies every day, take a break ever now and then. Ponies should be treated like a hobby, it gets boring if it’s the only thing you do in your free time, all the time. Ponies are simply best in moderation.

hey nate, looking good so far. The only thing I don't like about it would be the color of the text (I think purple like her glasses or white like her coat would be great) and the fact that the art is kind of rough around the edges, if you could smooth it out a bit, then I'd say it's perfect for the next ponybeat song video.

Before I head to bed, does anyone have any requests for new customs? Right now I have finished Lyra, Caramel, and Derpy. In progress, I have Luna, Bonbon, Nurse Pony and DJ pony.

I have considered Dinky. (Waiting for the scootaloo/sweetie belle two pack to come out?) I will not be doing Big Mac yet (holding out hope for a toy + no suitable base in my opinion) or Applebloom, because I'm waiting on an earth pony baby base for her, too, or a release (We've seen Scootaloo and Sweetie Belle, she's probably coming.)

Please post a ref if you can. I need to order more doll hair.

I've also had requests for a brony custom tutorial, which I will be thinking about when I start DJ pony, probably

I never can bring myself to give negative feedback so I'll go positive. Your dialogue is top-notch. I think the character interactions, especially between the Doctor and Derpy...excuse me, Bright Eyes are simply spot-on. The only thing I'd say is there seems to be little to no scenery described. The final conversation (that's up at least) had me imagining them on a clear, moonlit night with cicadas strumming in the background. I heard the sounds of the party off in the distance, DJ Deadhor5 keeping the base pumping and everypony dancing happily. But that's all my imagination, not written. I think anything to set some sort of mood would be a good addition, but not too much. Don't forget your strength and to play to it.

You made me go back and look at Snails again instead of averting my eyes every time he and Snips appeared. You made me break down my mental block and realize that he's not disgusting, he's just at an awkward age, pretty dim, becowlicked, and incredibly naive. And now, because of you, I'm catching myself thinking that he's kind of cute. I do not want to be the kind of person who thinks Snails is cute.
