I had my first MLP dream last night. It played like an episode in my head.

It was years down the road, and Ponyville was gathered for the birth of a new pony. It was revealed that Pinky Pie and Big Mac were together and sired the most ILLUSTRIOUSLY GODDAMN PINK BABY PONY on the planet. That was God-tier cute.

AJ was a happy Aunt, but secretly held reservations that her brother didn't get with TS, so that "we could get some smarts in the family tree, instead of just more Apples." Apple Bloom however, having been reigning CUTEST FUCKING THING EVER was now raging cunt bitch about her niece and plotting against her.

The plot got found out by Fluttershy. Even in my dream, I somehow thought the commentary that cute baby pony is fucked. But when no one was around, FS kicks the shit out of Apple Bloom, threatening her mafia style and revealing she's a secret badass. Then the others come around and she plays up her shy tepid cover as usual, no one suspecting anything.

Oh, and then Rainbow Dash caught fire, tore across the sky like Hayley's Comet, and blew up. For no apparent reason.

Alright guys, let's talk character.

So far, my favourites have been Pinkie Pie and Applejack, this might be because my own personality is more similar to theirs, and I find that they're the least arrogant and bitchy of the ponies. Applejack can get irritated easily, but it's because she's such a hard worker and it's hard to keep cheerful when you're the only one that cares.
Pinkie Pie is loud and proud, I love her for her outgoingness and silliness, and the fact that she sees good in people, or at least tries to have the good in them come out. Her character overall is great.
Rarity started off...shallow, she didn't show much character other than "I LIKE FASHION", but she's really grown, in small steps. But I wish they'd take her character in newer directions, so she's not just the "fashionista" of the group.

Rainbow Dash started out interesting, like Pinkie Pie she was outgoing and "cool", but she became too cool, she got ANNOYING. She's turned into a right bitch, as shown in every episode she's been in. I don't like her anymore, she's shown no character other than "TOO COOL FOR SCHOOL" and BITCH.
Fluttershy started out nice too, but they never did anything with her character that wasn't horribly clichéd or BORING. And to top that off, there's always been that small tinge of cunt to her attitude. She seems like the kinda pony that'd whisper under her breath obscenities about you, but put on a fake smile and pretend to be oh so nice when she talks to your face. She's a cowardly runt.
Twilight Sparkle... is boring. That's it. Her entire character is dull as fuck, maybe I am just not entertained by that stereotype, but jesus fuck her character is so dull, and it's made even worse with Tara Strong's boring-ass line-reading.

She WANTED to complain, but her shyness kept her from doing anything but making vague disapproving comments and noises. Rarity wanted her to be truly happy with her dress, and, being highly stressed out herself, her more aggressive personality came to the forefront, and she demanded that Fluttershy voice her complaints so that Rarity could address them and redesign the dress to be just what her friend wanted.

Have you ever been on the receiving end of passive aggressive shy criticism? When you really want to get someone something they want, when you want them to be happy? It's extremely stressful. And I say this as a very shy and unhelpful person myself when it comes to providing ideas to people of what to get me for gifts/etc.

Rarity was just trying to do her best to make Fluttershy happy, and Fluttershy's shyness wasn't stopping her from making it clear that she thought SOMETHING was wrong. When Rarity finally makes her spit it out, Fluttershy breaks into a needlessly insulting diatribe that suggests Rarity knows nothing about haute couture fashion.

It was a pretty bad display on Fluttershy's part, to be honest, even if Rarity did lose control and did sort of force her to say SOMETHING.

She loves her friends, but she wants to be cooler than them, so she's always balancing this. She wants everyone to recognize her greatness but she isn't that great. She comes across as a very real character.

Twilight is the most likable character in the cast because she is level-headed. She has empathy and a respectable awareness of the world around her that can only come with being somewhat detached from one's surroundings. Yet at the same time, she has a childish naivety and a zest for life that is truly beautiful. Many intelligent people just get bitter and egotistical, but not her. I could imagine Twilight subscribing to the philosophy that "a wise man accepts that he knows nothing".

Dash and Twilight also have the best voice acting imo, along with Rarity.

It's the same reason I don't want more of the CMC either. The introduction of new major characters, especially ones who are different than the rest of the cast, is often a turning point towards the worse in cartoons.
