I'd recommend looking up local archaeology groups in your area on Google for a start. You can get a lot of info there. If you're not in college yet, obviously you want to look for one with good archaeology/anthropology and history departments.

Job-wise, most of what's done would be mapping a site, lowly excavating by trowel, sifting through soil, etc. Lab work would include ceramic restoration, artifact cleaning, etc.

TL;DR- archaeology's awesome, but don't expect to be fighting nazis and saving the world

It's really nothing new. A lot of shows do this, even ones aimed at adults. Many just try to disguise it more.
I've never had a problem with it, and in fact look forward to Twilight's heartwarming little monologues at the end of every episode.

The "What we learned" from a plot standpoint comes almost from necessity, it is Twilight's objective and mission to learn about the magic of friendship per Celestia's orders, without of which Twilight wouldnt have a reason to stay in Ponyville. To a viewer the moral at the end allows for closure and with it being read off means the moral wont be misinterpreted...most of the time. I enjoy it though, even if its a lesson already learned, its nice to think about every now and again.

And he has all kinds of adventures fending off male admirers and trying to make food while keeping his secret identity intact! It's very goofy. Anyway, he's got an burnt-orange body, with green-and-yellow citrus-y colored hair, which is usually kind of wavy, and I haven't decided on eye color yet. Probably brown. He's intended to be kind of an eye-fuck, colorwise, since his parents were either citrus-themed and muted earth tones. His symbol is a little poofed-up souffle in a blue pan!

For myself:

I joined the fandom after the second ep aired, and I must say that it was mostly Dash's plucky exuberance that drew me in. I just couldnt help but love her.

But now, as the series currently stands, I find myself preferring Rarity, because I was completely surprised by the lovable route her characterisation took (I was positive at first that she was going to turn out to be the main character I loathed... was I ever wrong)
