>>23119349 >was equestria always so saccharine? did celestia organize what was otherwise a very unfortunate world? did she have to make some serious sacrifices of freedom to keep equestria so idyllic? Hmm, that's possible. I'm starting to wonder about a fanfic that would flesh this out.
Imagine the world being most more akin to the EverFree Forest, full of chaos, maticores, dragons, other mythical beings. Many of which preyed on pony-kind, forcing them to live in fear. One day, two special ponies are born, a marvel of magic, a unification of the earth, pegasus, and unicorns. First, Celestia, then her sister Luna. Seeing and experiencing the chaos and turmoil of the world, they endeavor to grow powerful enough to defend at least a village. Only to find their power kept growing. More ponies rallied behind them and begged for help. It became overwhelming to try to save them all, defending them from stray dragons, griffins, and creatures far worse. Eventually, Celestia and Luna, working together through countless epic battles, conquered the very sun and moon and bent them to their will. They used the new found power to create Equastria, a paradise for all ponies, and promised to rule the land justly, with order, and to beautify it. But as the years passed, people began to forget Luna's role as the younger, and ignore the moon, causing the first sparks of bitterness . . .
