Arriving at the palace, Twilight stepped through the giant wooden doors opening into Celestia’s impressive throne room. Across the cavernous hall, Twilight noticed a large, golden throne, adorned with beautiful engravings. The markings told the tales of pony legend, most of which were witnessed by Celestia herself. Daring ponies from history were gilded into the sides and back of the throne, and all sorts of intricacies allowed anypony to see that this was truly a throne befitting of Equestria’s ruler. To the right of this throne sat a smaller, less lavishly adorned throne. It appeared to be more of a chair, really, and on it sad a small, dark blue pony. Twilight recognized her as she came galloping across the hall to meet her. “Twilight! I’m so glad you came!” The pony cried. Eventually reaching Twilight, the other pony stopped and held out a hoof in greeting, “Big sister is just finishing up raising the moon, but I’m sure she’ll be back any minute. Tell me, is everything going well in Ponyville? Do you want to play with me for a while before Celestia returns?” Twilight’s heart dropped a little at the overly happy greeting. This was the once proud Nightmare Moon, dedicated to overthrowing Celestia and ruling Equestria. Now, after having been defeated by Twilight and her friends after displaying the Elements of Harmony, she was once again just Luna, little sister to Celestia. It seemed to Twilight that Celestia kept her in the throne room, less as a place of honor and more like a prison. Granted, a lavish, comfortable prison, but one without freedom or friends nonetheless. “Things are going fine in Ponyville. Nothing really to report. Um….I’m just going to wait for Celestia over here, okay?” |
