But on the subject of virtue, I'm a bit stoic in my views on it, and so I'd say that Grace should have explained that it is your intentions that are most important, because they are what you can actively control. If you intend good, but evil comes of it, that's not your fault. You can't control consequences, there are too many factors for you to ever be certain that what you intend will actually come about. But you can control your intentions. So long as Fluttershy sets out to do good, then that's good.

Grace was correct though that a person should go and do good if they want to be good, in order to develop an inclination for it. The ideal is to eventually get to the point where you're being virtuous because it is virtuous, because that's the sort of person you are. So that was good.
