[ The Subject of New Threads & The Generals ]

Please check the MLP:FiM Thread Locator and
Archive before going out and about and starting
a new thread. /co/ doesn't mind if we stay in
a general thread, but the biggest complaint I
see from them is that there are multiple threads.

A new general should not be made until the official
general is on the brink of autosaging into 404 hell,
or is at the image limit (150 pics). Once a new one
is established, it should be posted at the end of the
old general and everyone needs to herd themselves to
the next.

Obviously trolls & haters cannot be helped.

New System: When the old general thread dies, the
general thread image is to be deleted and placed
onto the new one. Old general will be archived.

Because it's a well written ficlet. Destroys the tone of the series, but it takes the setup and world that we're used to and does something new and interesting with it. I wibble when I read them, and I'm going to be absolutely devastated when Twilight inevitably tortures Fluttershy to death (the opposite of kindness? yeah, that's cruelty), but I can't stop reading it because it makes me think about the characters and the setting in a way I hadn't before, and it opens up new possibilities. I think it's just a fluke for me personally. I'm easy to manipulate emotionally with fiction, but it only lasts as long as I am reading the fic, or the book, or watching the movie, or whatever. This is the first time in my entire life that something I've read/watched/listened to/whatever has caused feelings that wont go away, and there's no good reason why it has done so.

Personally, I love the Severing fics.
Oddly enough, I'm rooting for Twilight and the fics just made Twilight even more my favourite character. I actually applauded at the end of Loyalty.

I enjoy how cleverly the fics fit with the canon and the twist is delicious and genuinely surprised me in Loyalty. (And this is coming from someone who has a very large collection of grimderp fiction.)

Confound you, /co/! It feels like it was forever ago, but I'm sure it was only weeks, when MLP spilled out into other boards; however slight it might have been.

Pony-themed cocktails, MLP video game theorization, pony reaction images, it was unsettling at first. Mass trolling? Something more? It's tough to pinpoint why things like this happen, the only truth is that it happens.

Today I needed something to take my mind off of things. I dove into an MLP general in hopes to find a link to episodes if only to drown out the world with gratuitous amounts of cute, girly, and silly. The first reply, similar to the one in this thread, was more than helpful.

I started out thinking I would have to keep myself open-minded, by the second episode I realized that for a girl's show there was some serious shit going down. It was cornier than grandma's feet, but for the most part it...wasn't bad. In my eyes, it went from girly-girl, gonna-get-cooties-if-you-watch-it show to a relatively enjoyable cartoon within the first 3 episodes.

It's John Everypony hanging out with friends, being silly, and sometimes serious shit happens but it's okay because your plot's got more corn than a cob and all your problems are solved when you get corny...except the characters are ponies and it's all about the cute.

You have one more brony for the herd, /co/. I may live in other boards, but I'll always come and visit for the MLP. It'll be tough to shake the sheer strangeness of watching a show my mind still perceives as girly, but I've enjoyed the cartoon too much to not try.

When I first started watching this show it evoked memories and feelings that I don't think I've had since I was just a wee Anon... I've always had a soft spot for cute things and seeing this show again brought me back to those day when I'd run downstairs, early in the morning, wrap up in my favorite blanket, and just watch cartoons til noon.

It also reminded me of something from further back in my past than I can usually remember. When I was little, I don't even remember how old, I was taken to some family party or something. All I remember is that the place had this gravelly hill, which I decided to climb and explore.

I slipped and fell and scraped my knees and legs really bad. Of course, I was inconsolable, gasping for air between fits of screaming and crying. Then someone, in a hurry to find something to calm me with, found a My Little Pony figure which had been left by the side of the road. It calmed me down pretty well, and kept me quiet and docile while they cleaned up my cuts.

I don't know what happened to that toy pony, but it left it's mark on me..

Jut felt like sharing that, I guess.

"Bye!" Pinkie waved excitedly to them as her guests departed. "That was the best most super awesome party I've had in a while. I'll make sure to make the next one a tons more fun. We'll have cake so big that you'll be all-"

Pinkie's eyes widened and she gasped loudly.

"Oh my gosh where's Rainbow Dash?" Pinkie Pie began to search frantically under tables, in punch bowls, in ovens, and even used suction cups on her hooves to check the ceiling. "Don't tell me she left already? I really wanted to make plans with her for tomorrow? I have this great joke to tell her and all kinds of nifty masks and outfits and pranks to show off. There's this one mask that has cool spinny eyes that are all swirly and go "VVVVVYYYOOOOOOO" when you push this button. And I can't forget-"

Pinkie Paused for a moment as she poked her head out from a cake, her face covered in frosting. She licked the tasty treat away and listened to the faint sound of singing from somepony outside. After devouring the rest of the cake in a single bite, Pinkie bounced outside. Maybe the pony that was singing could tell her where Rainbow Dash was? If not, Pinkie could always learn a new song to sing.

The streets of Ponyville were empty and the lights on most of the houses were out for night. So where was the singing coming from? She stayed very quiet and perked up her ears. Pinkie then had a thought about playing one last prank for the day.

"Think you can share some of it?" Rainbow Dash asked. "After tonight I could definitely use a limitless supply of energy and joy."

That was cute, short and sweet. Pinky Pie felt spot on (with the obvious allowances it takes to actually ship characters). Rainbow Dash felt a little off to me for some reason, a little too... tame. She could have used a bit more tomboyishness and a bit more "oh shit, what are these feelings inside me must hide them."

I like how it played into an actual episode. I can always appreciate the effort an author takes in tying his fic to the canon rather than deviating from it. Expanded Universe > Alternate Universe.

Pinkie Pie's final line was adorable.

As far as feedback goes: Its not perfect but you work with the characters instead of trying to reinterpret them, and you do a decent job. I might try a few more short pieces and then gird up for a long one.
