So, funny story:

A while back- 6 months ago, my doctor told me that I had to quit either smoking or drinking. I tried quitting smoking, but that was hard, and so I stopped drinking. Like, completely.

So, my girlfriend pressures me into having a couple of shots of rum/coke at a party yesterday. Naturally, the taste of alcohol hits me like a sledgehammer, and I keep drinking more and more.

The point to all this is that eventually, in a drunken rage, I kicked somebody off the computer, and turned on MLP. Now, I don't actually remember this, but my gf said that everybody was like "Ewwww," BUT! I spoke with two people, and one of them said that they thought the show was cute, and he's gonna watch it.

After seeing Twilight cry in WWU, I kind of liked it. So I wanted a bittersweet story, something everybody could relate to. Heartbreak? Why not. No more lesbian shipping, so I had to invent a male character, then crush his sole.

I first thought this would get much more favorable response. Maybe I laid it on too thick. Somehow it ended up being about Spike. Then somehow Zecora ended up bookending it. I kind of liked that bit. It surprised me.

I have seen an episode of MLP, didnt like it. I also dont get butthurt when other people DO like it.... I can respect that it has a demographic I dont belong to. Some people on /co/ obviously belong to that demographic and by the rules set up in /co/ it is where MLP discussions SHOULD be occurring. If it keeps going and actually gains enough popularity, it might be given its own board like pokemon (another show i dont really like, but i do respect that it has a strong following)

personally i dont see why people get upset that MLP threads exist.

The show doesnt appeal to YOU doesnt mean it is ZOMGTERRIBLEFAIL. its just not your thing. new stuff comes out all the time and sorta takes over a board. It will either fade away (tangled, avitar, etc) or be made into its own board (pokemon). Very few things get to stick around for a long time.

It just makes me happy to watch it. It's hard to explain. SBT is great for a lot of reasons. It looks fantastic, the story is interesting, and every episode has a hefty dose of "fuck yeah" involved.

But MLP is what I find myself excited for most every week, mostly because it's just something I can watch and feel happy while doing so, it's hard to explain, but I think most people will back me up when I say it's almost impossible to not have a stupid grin on your face while watching it.

I thought it was weird Applebloom was the focus of this episode, didn't see that coming. Also aside from Dash the main girls felt slightly out of place.
