Please check the MLP:FiM Thread Locator and

a new thread. /co/ doesn't mind if we stay in
a general thread, but the biggest complaint I
see from them is that there are multiple threads.

A new general should not be made until the official
general is on the brink of autosaging into 404 hell,
or is at the image limit (150 pics). Once a new one
is established, it should be posted at the end of the
old general and everyone needs to herd themselves to
the next.

Obviously trolls & haters cannot be helped.

First of all, the Doctor, aka "Doctor Whooves" is the last of the Time Ponies from the planet Gallopfrey.

Spike and twilight combined are the best part of the show, and why I think the first episode captured everyone.

They just work so well together, like a brother/sister combination. If it were up to me, the show would focus on the 2 of them dealing with the problems the others have.

Instead of establishing spike's relationships with the other ponies, the writer's seem pretty content on just pushing him out of the story.

It's too bad, as I find his character enticing because he isn't really assigned to any one personality.

Take for example, Fluttershy is always shy (except for the end of episode 7) Applejack is constantly a bit bossy and stubborn, Rainbow Dash is ALWAYS outgoing, Pinkie Pie is always random, and Rarity is always faaaaaaaaaaaabulous.

Spike just feels like an actual person I would meet somewhere, not some pre-ordained character.

The strangest thing happened to me last night! You know that crack in the wall I've been telling you about? I was praying to Santa Clops that someone might come and help me with it, since it's kinda scary. Then I heard a big crashy sound outside, and I ran out of the barn to go look. A strange pony was there, with a big blue box lying on its side! He said his name was the Doctor. I helped him out by giving him some granola sticks and custard (and a bunch of other stuff too, that he didn't like). He drew this smiley face in an apple... and I got my cutie mark, that looked just like that! Isn't that great?

The raggedy Doctor said he'd be back in 5 minutes... but it's kinda been longer than that.

I hope he comes back soon!

Beyond that, Dragon's are mysterious to us.
They apparently sleep for centuries at a time, and are willing to leave their offspring in the care of other species without fear.
I mean shit, you've seen the story about Spike getting older while everyone else passes away.

Spike is fascinating in the same way that Celestia is fascinating.

We are able to project all sorts possibilities that exceed what is possible for the other characters.

At best, the other characters get some tragic parent fatalities, while Celestia is made in a manipulative god queen placed on various places of the alignment spectrum, and Spike is viewed at as an observer of the events going on in the show, who is meant to outlast the characters in the show.

Yes, we're taking a show about Pony's too seriously, but better that then the general loathing that comes from a show that one can imagine zero possibilities for.

Yes, there were so many new baby ponies it almost felt like an entirely new cast. The real main characters just had brief cameos (I swear the only reason Twilight was there was to give the moral at the end) and Rarity and Fluttershy were absent completely.

It was an okay episode, but it sort of seemed like a different show due to all the new characters out of nowhere.

[Different anon] Well, it DID feel like a new episode. I was not experiencing my usual joy of watching FiM when the episode went on. In fact, the only time I felt it was when Rainbow Dash popped in and said "Let's do EVERYTHING" in a funny pony montage. Then Pinkie Pie came in and did a song and dance. I hope after the show has run it's course Lauren posts the "FiM Bible" that defines all the rules for the show and more of the history of the world. I always enjoy seeing behind the scene stuff, even if it's just early design sketches.

Unless an episode makes me cringe, I don't consider it bad. The episode had too many good moments to be flat-out bad, but the flow was wonky and the way it up felt awkward.

There's been a few close calls, but FiM doesn't have an episode that flat-out falls on its ass. I guess I'm just too nice when it comes to passing judgment.

Well, I consider it a classic FiM. Look Before you Sleep had two conflicting characters act...themselves. There were just so few characters that if you did not dig the interactions you had little else to like; conversely, if you liked the interactions you thought the episode was gold. The episode seemed unusually "narrow"

I liked Look Before You Sleep better on my second watch, but it's still ranks pretty low.

I don't care much for Boast Busters or Griffon the Brush off, though. I partially blame /co/ making a huge fucking deal on characters that might appear ONCE more in the series, if they're lucky.

I'm really bad I rating stuff like TV shows and music because I am always hesitant to call something "bad". I still do not know what it feels like to dislike something. I feel disappointment over something for a short period of time, but that eventually turns into me despising it flat out.

I agree, but it was weird. Twist struck me as the most normal kid in the show, I mean by IRL human standards. She was this awkward kid, seemed like all the characters knew it. But AJ knew exactly who she was, and kept in touch with her, so it seems like there's some background relationship between her and Applebloom, not that I expect it to be explored further.

I'll say this about the episode: Rarity was in desperate need of more screen time AND a fleshed-out personality. Before that episode, Rarity was "that other pony who's into fashion."

Now she's a lovable overly-fussy perfectionist, and a legitimately entertaining character in her own right.
