[ The Subject of New Threads & The Generals ]

Please check the MLP:FiM Thread Locator and

a new thread. /co/ doesn't mind if we stay in
a general thread, but the biggest complaint I
see from them is that there are multiple threads.

A new general should not be made until the official
general is on the brink of autosaging into 404 hell,
or is at the image limit (150 pics). Once a new one
is established, it should be posted at the end of the
old general and everyone needs to herd themselves to
the next.

Obviously trolls & haters cannot be helped.

Does anyone else think Apple Bloom's cuite mark will be spy related? She demonstrated incredible coercive techniques in the market place, which shows her aptitude for torture. Social stealth skills, she improvised hiding places around the party like a professional. Proficiency with toxic substances, she even managed to get Pinkie to eat those cupcakes. She also appeared to have a knack for disguise, with her split second dress. Not to mention at the end of the episode she forms a secret society. Twist's cutie mark should be a Q.

I think Celestia probably has need of an apprentice spymaster. She doubtless has one already.

Alright /co/, you did it again. Like you usually do when something is a hot topic, curiosity will always get the better of me. It happened with Fred's Head, it happened with Scooby Doo, it happened with Scott Pilgrim, and now it happened to M.L.P.

And like Homer Simpson reading a Gary Larson calendar, "I don't get it."

I don't understand the HUGE popularity its gained here for what this show is. Its an average kiddie cartoon, better than some I've seen. I saw "Call Of The Cutie" and "Bridle Gossip". It's got really good Flash animation that doesn't seem "flat" (like full frontal face shots, things most cartoons shy away from), nice backgrounds, and a good voice cast. Spike is a fun character.

But the writing is predictable and I FF'd through the last 5 mins of the 'Cutie' episode because I couldn't take it. The worst thing this show does it shove MORALS down your throat. I have always hated that in kids cartoons. Either hide them well or don't have them at all. Kids don't need to be slapped in the face with a speech at the end of every episode.

To have like five threads per day on this caliber of cartoon when other shows could be discussed...well...I don't get it.

Dash as personal trainer was hilarious

I liked this episode okay, for myself.

But since I missed it on tv, and I got one of those computer-to-TV cables for Christmas, I hooked up the youtube to watch on my big TV while I ate dinner. My roommate came in and I invited her to watch ponies sort of jokingly - she knows I like the show, and always makes that joking "oh, jeeeez" noise when I mention the show. Especially ever since I got a Pinkie Pie toy in the mail (thanks random gift thread anon!) and showed it to her. It's fine, I joke about her love of chick flicks and melodramatic dramas, and we do both enjoy some of the same cartoons.

But she came in to watch with me. And god if this episode wasn't the overly-cutesyest, cliche with the bitches of the classroom, squeaky voices, and the CUPCAAAKES song did me in. *I* love Pinkie's singing, but compared to her others it's very super sugary sweet.

The waves of judgment emanating from her broke my pony-loving spirit. ;_;

I was thinking Celestia would be the announcer. You could preface the whole thing with a story about how she used to be in charge of the Red Team, while her sister Luna was in charge of the Blue Team, and they both ruled the two teams in peace. Then Luna got pissed about how Red statistically wins slightly more than Blue, so she went nuts and caused a war. Then Celestia had to take over both Red and Blue.

No it does not make sense, but it goes pretty well with the opening story!

Do you remember in the first two episodes, how NMM was able to just instantly banish Celestia even though Celestia needed the Elements of Harmony to do the same to her? I thought it was a plot hole or had just been skipped or something, but it actually makes TOTAL SENSE.

Cutie marks. Celestia is the Sun and Luna is the Moon. We think of the Sun being stronger and more powerful, but what can the Sun do to the Moon? Nothing, except make it brighter. What can the Moon do to the Sun? Blot it out. Solar eclipse. Luna is and always has been able to defeat Celestia - easily!

And then Celestia welcomes her back to live with her!

For those that still wonder about Celestia's inner thigh cutie mark.
Here is a screen from swarm of the centurie.If you look very closely and maybe tilt your screen, you'll notice she does has the cutie mark too (you can see three of the sun branch pop out)
So either it's a careless animator who didn't notice TWICE or it's part of her design.Someone have other screens of her inner thighs?

Every MLP series has that problem with them holding things with their hooves. I think maybe their front hooves are a little more soft, allowing it to mold around object to hold them, just not very well, hence them mostly using their mouths for things.

One of the staff members was here yesterday, they have a big book they use written on the world and its said they're not suppose to use their hooves as hands, which they stick to about 75% of the time. There's just situations at times were it can't be helped. Today for example, the character Applebloom was writing on paper with a pencil in her mouth.

The funny thing is that (according to reports from an alleged animator) this is usually due to storyboarding error - the series bible says not to treat hooves as hands, but things occasionally slip through the cracks.

Hold on, hold on. So Cutie Marks are a manifestation of a pony's "calling", but they're based on a personal realization - you have to decide or realize that it's what gives your life meaning or whatever.

But how does that make sense for Twilight Sparkle? Her mark works as a "mark of destiny" - a central star surrounded by others, representing her and her friends - but how would she have got it, then?

Did she just decide she wanted to surrender to destiny, and in exchange got what is essentially a prophecy on her butt?
