Please check the MLP:FiM Thread Locator and

a new thread. /co/ doesn't mind if we stay in
a general thread, but the biggest complaint I
see from them is that there are multiple threads.

A new general should not be made until the official
general is on the brink of autosaging into 404 hell,
or is at the image limit (150 pics). Once a new one
is established, it should be posted at the end of the
old general and everyone needs to herd themselves to
the next.

I don't understand how it detects the general, but I'm assuming it scans /co/ for a certain filename. It might work if we had "general1.png" and "general2.png" as being able to be detected. Then when the first general caps but doesn't 404 we can immediately post general2.png in the new thread and keep it going, and just alternate back to general1.png after, etc.

Well I know the 'general' image, /co/ scans for the actual picture and not just the filename, if you watch, filename changes depending on who posts it. So its searching for the same sized picture with the same image.

I'm trying to think of how this could be done, but most ways lead to trolls being able to blow up threads. If code wise the archiver can remember what is the general thread, I'd say when the general image is deleted, move the thread into the 'past threads' archive while then rescanning for the new general. Think thats might be what you're saying. Its hard when I don't know how the 4chan system runs.

I think the issue is /co/ complaining over the number of pony threads, when we try our hardest at keeping it down to one active thread at all times.

Double general tags would make things easier, but at the same time it feels safer having one general in orbit.

I'm still in the dark about how FlockDraw works. I gathered a little information from the last thread, but it wasn't really clear. Maybe I can get some more knowledge about it in this thread.

Here is an example of what I don't understand:

Top image: Posted in our pony thread first by somebody else
Bottom image: What I saw in real-time in FlockDraw during that exact moment

As you can see, what I saw in FlockDraw was a picture of incomplete Pinkie Pie. However, the picture was trolled before it was finished. Despite that, the picture posted in the pony thread is unharmed and fully completed with no signs of tampering.

How it works now is basically this:
1) I watch the /co/ RSS feed for new threads.
2) For each such thread, if it mentions certain words in the OP, I add it to a list of threads that might be pony threads.
3) For each thread on the list of possible pony threads, I check each post for an image whose MD5 (file hash, same mechanism 4chan uses to detect duplicates) matches that of mlpgeneral.png. Each thread that hasn't 404'd is marked as "Confirmed" if it has the image, or "Unconfirmed" if it doesn't. Each thread that *has* 404'd is marked "404", unless it was "Confirmed" when it vanished, in which case it's marked "Former".
4) Meanwhile, the archiver automatically includes any thread that's "confirmed" in the list of threads it tries to pull onto the server.

Basically what I'm doing is adding a "Former-Alive" tag which it uses instead when a Confirmed thread becomes Unconfirmed (that is, when the general image is deleted from it). Such threads will still be archived and will show up as "former" threads from then on.

It seems to me that, for large, established families, you have a "family name" which serves as a naming thematic rather than as a specific word that's always included. Big Mcintosh doesn't have "apple" in his name, and neither do Red Delicious and Golden Delicious. The Cakes and Pies probably have something similar.

Looks like they should go almost in the middle, just a little to the right. Almost high noon. Sun seems to be above and behind them slightly, just to the left, so it would cast the shadows more towards the foreground and just to the right a bit. It's a small thing but shadows are the sort of thing that really stands out in a picture if something's wonky.
