01/01/11(Sat)12:39 No.22300080>>22300013 It's because Hasbro, the toy company, has their own intentions beyond Hasbro, the Hub executives, and by extension, the production team.
My Little Pony --and girls' toys in general-- have never been about articulation or poseability. That's a whole other can of worms. But they probably started designing the toys shortly after the characters were put in development, and the toys HAVE to appeal to little girls specifically so that they'll be bought.
The show can have fun and adventure and comedy and character and stuff, and that'll sell toys, but the toys also have to sell when the little girl is there, at the store, and hasn't seen the cartoon.
I think the reason Applejack's toy is so derpy is because the Girl Toy Execs at Hasbro don't know how to handle a cowgirl. First run? No hat. Fashion pony? BRIGHT PINK hat. Playset pony? Cute, fashionable BLUE hat.
I don't think we're going to get any better toys unless they make plushies, to be honest. |
