!!5pxEApHjMk5 12/24/10(Fri)14:09 No.22137203Well friends, I'm taking a bit of time off from watching SVT1 with the family and Christmas Eve dinner to give you all an update on Puzzles and Ponies.
To start, I finally had the opportunity to run a game with a varied group that hasn't been involved in development, including my brother, his wife, my now-fiancé (fun story, but not for here) and the most important player, my seven-year old niece.
This game is easy enough for a girl that young to play, even though her English isn't very good and she needs help understanding words. After much though and deliberation, she ended up playing a yellow Unicorn Pony, named Sun Shiny (Like I said, her English isn't very good, and she insisted), and seemed to really have fun. This was her first time role-playing, and her dad (My brother, who convinced me to get started back in the day) hopes that she'll keep going with it.
The system still needs tweaks and can be vulnerable if players really want to break it, but it works in a general sense. We had a relatively mixed group (Two Earth Ponies, a Pegasus, and our aforementioned Unicorn), and that seemed to work really well.
This, of course, means that the first pre-written adventure, "Signs Point to Adventure!" will be written and uploaded in a few days. I'm going to enjoy spending Christmas with the family.
As always, content is located at http://puzzlesandponies.deviantart.com/ which should have some more fun stuff by Monday.
Also, there is nothing cuter than watching a little girl proudly trying to tell her grandparents how fun it was "pretending ponies". |
