Okay so now that I finally got to watch the show (all episodes) I think I'll try and give a fair, short review

The Good
- animation, although made in flash, is surprisingly smooth and clear
- main characters are all enjoyable and well written, and none of them are grating or annoying (well, maybe Rainbow Dash sometimes can be too much of a jerk)
- good, lighthearted humor and many shoutouts to the golden era of cartoons, particularly looney tunes
- plots are simple but well executed
- the show works best when dealing with slice-of-life scenarios or one time adventures without a grand overarching plot
- good - if predictable - character development
- cute creature designs
- couple of adult-oriented gags that children would have no chance of understanding
- it's a goldmine for reaction images
- Pinkie Pie
- Spike's moustache

The bad
- This being mainly a kids' show, aesops apearing at the end of every episode can be seen as cheesy or even annoying for older folks
- the whole "friendship" thing seems very hamfisted, even for a kids' show
- In my opinion the very first two episodes are the worst of the bunch and they prove that a show about magical talking ponies cannot treat itself too seriously without becoming cringe-worthy
- even if it's good flash - it's still flash and I wonder how great the show would look if done in traditional animation

Overall i give it a 7,5/10 Not bad, will wait for another episode.

To be fair, you can make amazing animation in Flash. Flash is like a kitchen that has a microwave in it. You're going to use the microwave for cheap stuff, but you still have that oven and stovetop when you want to impress, as long as you're willing to put the time/resources into a good meal.

You CAN draw every frame by hand in Flash, but since the facilities to make quick-and-dirty tweening are available, people expect you to use them to get more frames done, no matter how bad it looks.

man, I had no idea there was a new series of MLP cartoons. I used to love them as a kid, and it seems like the kind of simple cutesy innocence I'd enjoy still. Can't say I'm too keen on the new style. Even the last style of animation with the newly released figures was better. Still, anywhere I can watch it online? Arguments against MLP are starting to get weak now. Or really, have always been weak, since nobody talks about the content. "Little girl's Show" isn't enough to make me stop liking something.

So Rarity got tickets to the Grand Galloping Gala after all... you've got to presume that she didn't get to meet the handsome prince, and get married and all that.
She probably got terribly depressed afterward, and wouldn't speak to anypony for a while.

Nor did Rainbow Dash get a spot in the WonderBolts for whatever reason.

I imagine Fluttershy, Twilight and Pinkie Pie all had good times.

As promised, here's the requested Trixie robs a train fic:

Trixie kept watch of the train from the hole in a cliff she had created using her magic and explosives. “Eh he he he. With everything going to plan, no pony will expect the new one-hundred-pony-powered train to be robbed by the GREAT AND POWERFUL TRIXIE!” Using her unicorn magic, Trixie lifted a cow-colt hat, cape, and a belt with something that would resemble a revolver to humans (but really isn't, since ponies don't have guns), and placed them on herself.

Lifting up a pony pocket watch, Trixie looked at it and stated, “Hm.. The train should be here any minute. Better get out of this cliff-ditch and get ready.” Using her magic in conjunction with a carpet she just hopped on, Trixie floated out of the hole and landed behind a big cactus.

Another minute passed, and there it came on the tracks, being moved by 100 ponies on the outside and an unknown number of unicorns in the inside, the Celestrain was hitting the speed of 15 MPH. The first of its kind, all of the train's passengers were of high class, and some important magical items, such as the legendary Rich-Quake. These were just the basic reasons for Trixie wanting to rob the train. She wanted fame, to be written about in foreign countries, to become a legend! This was her chance to do just that.

Which was limited to Princess Luna and a fat sleeping pegasus with comedy and tragedy masks for a cutie mark. Princess Luna was sitting towards the sleeping fat pegasus and was crying out, “why doesn't anyone give me a chance for longer than a minute! Even when I offer to give them the evening of a life time, they just ignore me!”

Feeling pity for the crying princess, Trixie just walked past them to the door for the next train carton. Hiding the revolver-object behind her cape, Trixie opened the door, only to see that the passengers in this room were four Celestia-sized dragons playing poker. All of four of them turned their attention to Trixie, and steam started blowing from their nose. The now frightened Trixie said, “Excuse me. I was just entertaining Princess Luna and her friend back there. I'll just be making my way by.” One of the dragons, that was colored like an emerald, replied, “Hey squirt. That wasn't just Princess Luna's friend. He's our boss, and her husband. Give some respect to the man, will ya'? It makes for a good diet, and you want to be in good health, don't ya?” Trixie just shook her head with a forced smile, and made her way to the door quickly.

Before opening the next door, Trixie blinked her eyes rapidly and breathed deeply. Opening the door in hope for better luck, Trixie saw zebras, gryphons, and other foreigners from out of Equstria. Although they all were speaking their native tongue, Trixie saw this as a perfect opportunity for they were dressed and acting as though they had wealth. Pulling out her I-can't-believe-it's-not-a-revolver, Trixie shouted, “All right! This is a hold up! Give me everything you have!” All of the passengers turned to look at her, and then became silent. Finally, one of them said “Baka Gaijin,” and they all went back to talking. Lifting up her revolver-wand, Trixie pointed it at the roof and said, “This is your only warning!” With that, a pellet came out of the revolver-wand and hit the roof of the train, and then erupted into a fury of lights. All of the passengers turned back to look at this, and started clapping. With in a few seconds, some of them were even tossing valuables towards Trixie. Although not what she expected, Trixie couldn't help but smile. Trixie then picked up all the valuables with her magic, and then walked up to the next door. Before leaving, she fired another light-pellet, and received more applause and valuables. Taking a bow, Trixie then left with everything she got.

As she stood on the panel connecting the train carton she was just in and the next one, Trixie summoned her flying carpet. She placed all of her profit on it, and then had the carpet transform into a bag to keep it all safe while it flew back to the hole in the cliff. Before opening the next door, Trixie thought she could go back to her original plans of robbing the train, but that thought had to change when saw what was in the carton. Legendary treasure such as the Rich-Quake, the Horn of Zorn, the Tail of Gold, wings forged with rare minerals, all there in one room. Protected by large bears from Bearssia. Trixie silently swore to Celestia, and looked around to see if there was some way she could make it out this situation. Noticing that the bears were a bit dizzy, and looking sad at large empty jugs next to them, Trixie came up with a plan.

Trixie walked up to one of the bears and asked him, “you out of drink?” The bear muttered a yes. “Well let me tell you this, you know those dragons back there?” The bear's eyes turned angry as he barked “dragons?” Trixie laughed to herself in her head. “Yes, there's dragons back there. And they have lots of drinks. I'm sure they'll be kind enough to share.” The bear shook his head at this and turned to the other bears. “Dragons have drink! DRAGONS HAVE DRINK!” Pointing towards the door, the bear led the other bears in a rush towards and out of it.

With all of the bears gone, Trixie began opening the glassed stands that the treasures were displayed in, until she finally got to the Rich-Quake. “The legendary ponyshoe-shaped Rich-Quake. It is said that they contain a pony even more powerful than the sisters together! Do I dare use magic on it to see if what they say is true?” Trixie used magic to remove the glass surrounding the object. “Of course I dare, for I am the GREAT AND POWERFUL TRIXIE!” Pointing her horn towards the Rich-Quake, Trixie shot a beam of magic towards it. Suddenly, the Rich-Quake began vibrating. With a face of excitement, Trixie backed away from it. The Rich-Quake began to grew and change its shape until it was just like a pony. A bright flash occurred that forced Trixie to close her eyes. When she opened them though, she saw and shouted “PONY NIXON!” The male pony in front of her simply stomped his hooves and stated: “Pony Nixon Destroy.” Trixie, with a smile, said “Ponyville!” Pony Nixon stomped his hooves again and stated: “Pony Nixon Destroy Ponyville!” Trixie laughed sinisterly at this new prospect for revenge.

Hmm. Well, there's not really that much else to say. Except that she doesn't like Fluttershy much after she saw her fawning over Spike in the first episode. She's also not fond of Rarity for stealing away Spike's affections. She especially dislikes Applejack because she thinks she's holding back Big Mac from being with Spike.

Yes, while one half of the walls of her house are covered in pictures and drawings of Spike and Big Mac, the other half is nothing but drawings and plans concerning the inevitable disappearance of Rarity, Fluttershy, and Applejack.

A little bell ringed and the hedgehog family woke up from ther dreamless sleep. Twilight Sparkle has left Spike with Fluttershy to help her waking the critters from their winter sleep.
"Say,Fluttershy, why do we have to wake the animals? Shouldn't they do this on their own?", Spike asked the yellow pegasus as he crouched to the next cave the bell in his right little claw.
"Spike, it's important that the animals wake up after schedule.", Fluttershy explained Spike and watched with inner satisfication of the slowly waking hedgehogs."What if they oversleep and--". Suddenly, the hedgehogs dreamy eyes shot up and their tiny heads looked at Fluttershy's direction. "Hey, what's wrong?", Fluttershy asked the animals carefully. However, they ignored her, watching on the road in sudden anticipation. Then, they fled into the bushes and never returned. "Damn, maybe you were right about waking them up", Spike commented, scrathing his head with the round edges of the ball. Then both heard a small pounding which grew stronger and stronger. Slowly the heads turn with mixed looks of curiousity and anxiousity towards the source of the sound. Then, it came. A whitesilver glow appeared in the deepest of the woods. Whatever came, it did so with an incredible speed and rushed toward Fluttershy and Spike's direction. Fluttershy clinged at Spike as fear overrun her, the baby dragon returned the favor when he dropped his bell, and both screamed like little girls.

I think its more likely that Filly-delphia really was under parasprite attack, because it got hit with the parasprite ball the girls herded into the forest. I imagine it crashing into the poor unsuspecting town some time after they rolled it into the forest, only to emerge on the other side and wreak havoc.

HEY GUYS SORRY ABOUT THIS.

FINAL draft of the pony tutorial. I realized I'd been drawing eyes too small, because my first scientific reference was fluttershy, and her eyes are not exactly great for figuring out a good reference. After breaking apart applejack and pinky, this should be more accurate.

I wish there was an easier way to place the eyes, but no matter how I divided up the head circle, there really wasn't any clean cut lines that the eyes fell on. You just gotta wing it.

Fluttershy kept her eyes shut, expecting an unimaginable horrible...something to happen. But nothing did. She heard heavy fast galloping first, but it quickly stopped. The anxious pony flickered an eye open with haste. What she witnissed made her open the other eye and stare at it with wonder. Spike was also staring at it as if he found his first treasure but didn't know how to react at.
A giant white pony stood before them, with an unusual long horn on her head. Usually the yellow pony would be even more scared that someone huge was in her present, but the pony's apparance gave Fluttershy weird associations to other animals like a lion or a deer, so she loosened herself up and disregaded her fear. The white pony didn't seemed to be aware of both, but then she noticed them and looked down at the yellow pony and the baby dragon, her eyes briliant clear but somehow shocked.

"Na' hol' on yer hors's, ma'm! There ain't any ponydamn Red Bull!", Applejack took the initiative and stepped to Twilight's side. "Ye came out o' nowher' from this - hole- an' crashed into my farm!And ruined our seeds for the spring! Do ye have any explanation for t'is?".
