Ah, that hits pretty close, I feel, though I'd change a few of those slightly.

Rainbow Dash strikes me as a very "Ska/Punk Rock" kind of pony, what with the tomboyish attitude and general high energy.

Rarity, to me, seems more like the "Jazz" pony, maybe with a bit of Swing and Big Brass thrown in.

Metal/Hard Rock for Macintosh sounds about right, though I'd throw in a little Southern Rock to round it out. I can image him workin' to a little Skynard or Hatchet.

Fluttershy is probably atmospheric, yeah, but with some ultra-soft-rock thrown in.

I don't know why, but I think Twilight would actually be a new-wave kind of gal. Tears for Fears or The Vapors.

Pinky Pie would likely be whatever gets you pumped, like Andrew W.K., Matt and Kim, maybe a little Kaustic thrown in.

Apple Jack is probably country, perhaps leaning toward Southern Rock like her bro.

Hey, it's the SD brony again. This is why I gave FiM a chance when it first premiered:

The characters actually have character traits now. All of them are flawed. And SD was actually FUNNY. And I can see the show be able to scare a kid. Twist unmaskings of monsters this time. And a storyline.

Okay, I've got to ask /co/

What's with the popularity of the Rainbow Dash/Applejack pairing.

Don't get me wrong, I don't particularly like the shipping in general, but this rubs me in a wrong in a completely different way.

I feel that the show has established that if they were going to pair off, Rainbow Dash would go with Pinkie Pie. They appear to have a slightly closer friendship among each other than among the group at large.

Applejack's strength and dependance seems a perfect match, for Fluttershy. Applejack would be all protective of Fluttershy from harm, while Fluttershy's mothering instinct would probably appeal to Applejack (who also has a strong mothering instinct) in a significant other.

TL;DR, why does /co/ like RainbowJack?

Applejack is a very down-to-earth and level headed pony, while Rainbow Dash is a very free spirit and always rushing into things. I like to think they fit together well because they keep each other in check. Applejack makes sure Rainbow Dash doesn't get too in over her head, and Rainbow Dash reminds Applejack to kick back and relax every once in a while. Not to mention their elements of harmony are Loyalty and Honesty. Two aspects that go hand in hand in a good relationship. They may butt heads every once in a while but they still get along very well.

I think these two honestly have the strongest bond of friendship or otherwise...depending on how you look at it... than any of the other main cast.

It's really hard to compare them. Since each pony has an original color, the viewer's feelings for each color correlates somewhat to the feelings of the pony. When you switch the colors up, you feel the ponys are "weird" and are already biased against them, unless you hated them already.

TL;DR since bronys are attached to their ponies, any changes to them may be viewed different; it is difficult to view changes objectively.

Guys, I noticed something kind of strange. We joke that maybe Pinkie Pie is somewhat aware that she's in a cartoon is can do cartoon things, but I think we may be totally right about it after all. I was watching Bridle gossip again, and at the very end after Fluttershy says "yes", they do that zoom out with everyone laughing, but if you pay attention, Pinkie doesn't laugh with them. Instead she turns and looks directly at the viewer with like the most dead serious look on her face, I seriously can't even describe her expression. I mean it, go check it out right now, it's like she looks right at you!
