The next afternoon, Applejack and Rainbow Dash admired how much they had gotten done in so little time. Things were made a lot easier with the framework still in place. While Applejack and Big Mac were still working on the walls, Rainbow Dash had already completed and painted the roof. Big Mac was skepticle about its construction so until he gave it a look, Rainbow Dash was to stay nearby in case they needed help with anything else. In the meantime, she practiced a flashy new flight routine she'd been working on.
"Dash!" Applejack shouted. "Ah hate to bother you, but could you keep it down. Ah can't focus with all yer fancy aerobatic noise."
"So I just sit here and do nothing?" Rainbow Dash rolled her eyes.
"Ugh," Applejack was getting agitated. "You can't stay still for five minutes without makin' a fuss?"
"Not if I'm gonna be one the Wonderbolts I can't," she noted. "I have to stay in top condition or they won't even bother letting me have an audition."
"Ya know, ah just don't understand you sometimes," Applejack shook her head. "Why do you wanna run off to Canterlot and be a Wonderbolt when you've got a perfectly good life here in Ponyville?"
"It's my dream, Applejack," Rainbow Dash flew down before her. "Not like you've ever had one. You spend all your time working."
"Ah I am living my dream, sugarcube," Applejack frowned. "Ah've got everything ah could ever want or need here in Ponyville. But I guess that's just not good enough fer you."
"I never said that," Dash nearly shouted.
"Then why can't you stay here with me?" tears began to form in Applejack's eyes. "Ain't I good enough?"
A crushing weight fell to the pit of Rainbow Dash's stomach.
"Applejack," Rainbow Dash closed her eyes. "I didn't know."
"No," Applejack sighed and wiped the tears from her eyes. "No, ah guess you didn't."
Applejack turned away from Rainbow Dash and walked towards the barn. |
