My Little Pony: What it means to this Brony
Whenever I have watched a cartoon or read a comic, at the end of the day it had to make me do one thing: Laugh. It can be a sophisticated chortle, a cynical snicker, or a down-right slapstick guffaw, but it has to be a laugh. The veteran staff on the MLP team know what they're doing. They have set up many characters to be foils of one another, their comedic timing is fairly seamless, and while their jokes are nothing ground-breaking, they are done in a fresh enough way to keep me engaged.
I do not want to make Fluttershy (or any of them) mai waifu, I do not want to sleep with a pony, I won't be buying any of the franchise's toys, and after making the unfortunate mistake of watching the OLD MLP shows, I won't call myself a MLP fan. I will, however, watch any and all of these FiM shows with my fellow bronies for the same reason I watched Spongebob, Looney Tunes, Ren & Stimpy, and Animaniacs: To have a laugh. |
