Actually, what I'd really like to see is Celestia for some lore related reason losing her powers and reverting back to her normal Alicorn self rather than her powerful god figure that stands above any pony. Something where Luna helps to restore the balance because Celestia was never meant to handle both day and night. If only because I'd like to see Celestia normally, I think it would be rather nice, as is she's this huge wise teacher figure to all.

As someone who works in flash I can say that the animation is really nice for the medium, the turnarounds are awesomely smooth for flash builds, and the pony models are ridiculously complex.

Otherwise, you don't like it! Thanks for sharing. It's NOT the best written show around, I spot flaws often. Heck, when a new episode airs, we criticize it both positively AND negatively! But it's still enjoyable and smart, in our opinions, and if you don't feel that way that's cool.

Its all about character design and optimizing Flash (which is a shitty but cheap medium). The Characters and background are well designed and memorable even though many of them are anatomically similar. And yes its a flash show which to be honest, is the cancer killing animation but at least they put effort into it. Wakfu was done on flash and it was GORGEOUS. Now I'm definitely not comparing MLP to Wakfu but certainly miles better than shit like TDI with its cheap, lazy use of flash. In terms of artistic integrity I say MLP is pretty good. Picture is an example of a good show in MIND NUMBINGLY TERRIBLE flash animation. Its almost South Park-esque at times.

If we're being grim dark about it, sure, but this is ponies.

Still, it is a potential storyline to have some kind of crisis or temptation for Luna to once again because Nightmare Moon and stir trouble. I thought it would be neat for there to be some kind of actual villain behind Luna's original turning to Nightmare Moon where someone pointed out how unfair things were and encouraged her to go bad. Perhaps something to do with the dark mist she has around her.

But I'd also love to see Celestia not being godly wise for one and brought down a peg, helped by her students and sister alike to bring harmony back to Equestria's lore. That and I think Celestia without her goddess jewellery would be pretty adorable. She would be a white young adult Alicorn with pink hair.

I pray this show doesn't get a second season.

I understand a few weeks ago we had too many pony threads. Period. We all knew it was out of hand and now there are less but I've been posting on /co/ for a long time and the hostility towards MLP is pretty amazing. I remember there being Avatar hate threads but there were Avatar threads everywhere so it made sense for people to get mad. Now theres usually 1 (or 2 admittedly) MLP threads on the first 2 pages but people still are very unhappy about that. As if that the very presence of MLP somehow threatened the very integrity of /co/. The bottom line to the animation quality is that you can use the best animators in the world, but they do the work that's assigned. There's no flexibility, everything is designed to model, with a standard colour palette, and there's no deviation.

Most of the time velanimators are not the people to blame for the quality of a program.

If it gets more exposure I don't see why not. It's probably one of the more positive series I've seen for girls in quite some time. Actually entertaining to watch, not completely stereotypical and fairly well written with it's own morals seamlessly fitting into the fun.

Lets face it, even if it is still a cutesy girl cartoon, it has exceeded it's predecessors in quality of product to the point it doesn't feel like a 20 minute long advert for MLP every week. Sure some would argue that fact, but at the very least it's much more subtle about it and actually entertaining to watch, the characters aren't protected against cartoon physics like previous generations. They will get squash and stretch and make fun of their looks for visual jokes from time to time.

This is adorable.

Personally I like the show's background lore, it's not overly complicated and in some ways it borrows from many common elements we see in other fiction, but it fits in pretty well with the overall theme of friends and how friendship is special. The story at the start about how Luna got jealous of her sisters day in which the ponies played and worked was a nice little touch while reminding me of more classical tales of jealous gods.

As for Equestria itself, it's kind of interesting how they've played it out, you get the sense it's its own magical world with it's own rules. Pegasus have to maintain the weather system for the ideal weather, the Earth ponies grow the food and the unicorns study complicated magic. Ponies have to look after the animals (or beleive they do) and practically make sure they feed and house themselves. There are clear rules behind their society and it's not exactly the same as our own. So it's kind of interesting.

It seems you go wherever your interests and talents take you. Sure, Earth Ponies can't do sky duty, that would be silly, but they seem to encourage people to go into whatever their interest is. So Rarity runs a fashion shop, Applejack's family are all apple farmers, Pinkie Pie is from a family of bakers but she mostly seems to help out while having access to all she needs to run parties for new ponies.

Everyone has a favourite pony even if Pinkie Pie is damn glorious at times. Originally I barely considered her fourth of the main characters with Twilight Sparkle being the top, now she's second with Twilight firmly locked in place as the sensible pony who is learning about friendship for the first time.

Pinkie Pie before her episode seemed like the lol randum one, all jokes with no real character, but when she got her own episode we saw how she's capable of subtlety and consideration in her jokes. How she's actually much smarter then she lets on but she loves a prank.

Each pony gets that in their own episodes. Alot of people complain about Rarity, but I think even though she was pretty mean in her own episode, the OCD element of her character was pretty cute and she handles herself well. Not to mention a god tier voice, god damn. Voice acting in this show is great.

and while I'm at it, I drew AN ART of my character's downtime in the game. Though even in context it probably won't make much sense.

Basically after helping to stabilise that world with the others, we decided we needed to lay low (as Sliders we are outside of the worlds intended fate) so we were to avoid causing trouble.

So Wintermane the pony and Locca, a lizard man, both decided they should keep out of sight being monster like, Wintermane then became something of a wierd local legend as sightings of her were occasionally reported, but no one could ever get close. Then Winter tried talking to the horses of this world, but they were pretty much just horses. After that Locca needed to learn to get better with his lightning breath as he never hits anything with it, finally another of the characters called Wintermane over for a sleep over because Wintermane is always friendly and some people actually seem to respond to that well.

I would feel bad for drawing it, but it gets me skill points because the GM wanted art for our downtimes and fucking about. So it got me more woodland survival.

...I hate to defend this piece of shit, but he's right. Some troll was using the general image to make and then delete threads, leading to a lot of people making their own threads. When the troll thread was deleted, PoE started one using the general image, but we'd already chosen a different thread as our official general and asked him to delete his thread to keep the clutter down. So he did.

He's a sick fuck and a waste of space for a lot of reasons, but creating threads and deleting them to troll us isn't one of them.
